Lost in thought, Annan carefully avoided the clothes and piles of ash. His gaze settled on the runes carved into the fragment of mountain copper.

They looked exactly like the runes on the golden door he had summoned earlier. They seemed to be written in the same language.

"Aga, can you read them?"

Aga still retained a few of Agawar's memories.

"This is the language of the gods," he replied.

"What does it say?"

"I don't know."

Well, he would have to find a bishop of the Wealth Church to translate it... Oh, right. He had almost forgotten. Everyone in the Wealth Church was dead.

That wasn't entirely accurate. Some priests and nuns who had gone to preach in other lords' territories had survived.

He wondered whether they would cry or laugh when they heard what had happened in Golden City. The Grand Lord had killed all their brothers and sisters, but the "Holy Son" had been found.

Annan realized they could cut the mountain copper fragment into pieces and transport them separately to Free City.

He couldn't do it, but the Wilhelm merchant could.

Annan had Aga, his guard and servant, gather up the clothes and ash for now, then summoned the Wilhelm merchant.

"...Five hundred gold coins? How about this: I give you five hundred gold coins, and you disappear from my sight forever!"

The merchant appeared in the magic circle mid-rant.

"Having an argument?"

"Some bumpkin from out of town is trying to take advantage of me. How can the fine goods I sell compare to the junk from your backwater? Sorry, I wasn't talking about you."

"No problem."

Before Annan could explain, the Wilhelm merchant's eyes locked onto the mountain copper fragment.

"You actually found something this good?!" he exclaimed, the anger vanishing from his face.
