Raymond was dead, but a faint glow drifted out of his body.
Beside that swaying, bloated corpse, it looked so holy that it drew nearly every eye the moment it appeared.
"That's divinity."
The Old Clan Chief had appeared beside Annan without him noticing.
"Divinity?"
"Yes. The human lord never absorbed it. When he died, the divinity fell out."
As the Old Clan Chief spoke, the glowing mote began drifting toward Annan—
"Why is it coming toward me?"
"Because you carry more faith than anyone else here," the Old Clan Chief said meaningfully.
The boy had been a lord for only three years, yet he had gathered more faith than the Old Clan Chief's Blue Dragon Group.
Watching Annan dodge the approaching divinity with obvious distaste, the Old Clan Chief said, "Open your mind and body to it."
Annan had no wish to accept something of unknown origin—especially something that had floated out of Grand Lord Raymond.
"Are there side effects?"
"Apart from responsibility and the envy it will draw, almost none."
"And the benefits?"
"Everything... You can use Edict Divine Arts. You can cast any spell below the fourth circle and ignore their effects. When you embark on the Legendary Path—or even the path to godhood—it will be a light showing you the way."
Without benefits like those, why would Grand Lord Raymond have been ambitious enough to kill everyone in the Wealth Church and forge an identity as the gods' representative?
Becoming Legendary or a god felt too distant for Annan. Casting spells instantly and ignoring those below the fourth circle, though, was tempting... Still, he hesitated.
"You're the first person I've met who resisted divinity."
