Annan shot to his feet, stunned. He had no idea what had just happened, but judging by Griffin's attitude... had he won over this formidable Alchemist with just a few words?
Had his Sorcerer charm grown stronger again?
"Me? I'm the person you're looking for?"
Griffin looked up, his eyes blazing with fervor. "Do you believe science is the future of the Allen World?"
"Yes."
"Do you believe the Alchemy world is full of hidebound old fools who need to be smashed to pieces?"
"Uh, that's a bit extreme. Alchemy still has its merits, but... yes."
"Do you want to change this world?"
"Ahem..." Annan scratched his cheek, a little embarrassed. "That sounds a bit grandiose. I'd rather start by making myself better..."
"Then you're the one."
Griffin took out a notebook and handed it to Luoxi, who stood beside him.
"This is the research I've accumulated over the years. I thought it might be of some help to you."
An unexpected bonus?
Annan took it and edged closer to Dunbelly, so he wouldn't embarrass himself in front of his new subordinate if he couldn't understand it.
The densely packed data made his eyes swim, but it also lit them up. This was it... standardized experimental records, not the sort of thing Alchemists wrote in their notebooks: "Grind an appropriate amount of Potion with highly concentrated Mineral Powder until it turns golden..." Instructions that taught you something, but not quite enough.
You could say Alchemists did it to keep their apprentices from learning enough to put them out of work, but to Annan, it was the greatest obstacle to the development of Alchemy Studies.
To put it bluntly, concocting Potions sounded impressive, but once you brought science into it, the process was simple enough: mix the ingredients in fixed proportions,
