A World Tree was not something every world simply had. For one thing, its existence was never guaranteed. It took countless coincidences for one to grow.
For another, each world had only one chance to produce a World Tree.
One chance, not one tree. If that World Tree met with an accident—if an animal damaged it as a sapling, if it was cut down or destroyed—that world could never produce another.
