"Lady Biross, I almost didn't make it back..."
The Incubus returned to the Demon Camp deliberately dripping wet and poured out her troubles to the Six-Armed Snake Demon.
"Then why did you come back?"
The Incubus froze. She had been ready to explain everything once Lady Biross asked, "Did you nearly drown?" or noticed the wound on her chest and asked, "Did you clash with them?"
Lady Biross's response was not quite what she had imagined...
The Incubus could only tell the truth. "For some reason, they decided to be kind and take me back for treatment. I figured going with them would expose me, so while those Human Things—cough, while the humans weren't looking, I jumped into the sea and swam back... They couldn't catch me."
The Six-Armed Snake Demon looked at the Incubus, who seemed clever in some ways and not so clever in others. "It wouldn't have mattered if they saw through you. Our target is the Red-Eye Clan, not them. Running back will only make them suspicious."
The Incubus, who had been so pleased with herself just minutes earlier, knew she had botched it.
