Annan's face reddened as the Succubus Queen drew close. He fidgeted. "You want one too?"
The Succubus Queen pursed her red lips, amusement glinting in her eyes as her spade-tipped tail swayed gently behind her. "What a bold little thing. But can you manage it?"
Annan whipped his head toward the Six-Armed Snake Demon. His look said it all: Why did you tell her everything?
"Biross and I have been friends for centuries. We're much closer than you two." The Succubus Queen released Annan. "Hurry up. If you can't think of a reward, you won't get one~"
Annan couldn't exactly lure the Succubus Queen back to Free City, and another "Succubus Queen's Embrace" would be pointless. He glanced at the Six-Armed Snake Demon, then inspiration struck. "I hope you'll let me keep working at Lady Biross's side!"
The Six-Armed Snake Demon flicked the tip of her tail.
"That was my plan anyway, so I'll count it as your reward." The Succubus Queen gave him a sly smile. "Now Biross can give you something she couldn't give you earlier."
Don't be embarrassed. Don't be embarrassed. Olmedo Just Right was the one making a fool of himself, not Annan Reeves...
"There's nothing for you to do at my side, and you can't go back to the Ratfolk. The High Priest won't let you off."
Biross paused to think, then hit on a task suited to Olmedo Just Right. "Our people in the McKennan Clan say the Red-Eye Clan's Rat King is still alive. It returned to the clan a few days ago."
"It may know something about the truth. You have a knack for investigating, so I want you to go to the McKennan Clan and make sure the Rat King can never speak—"
"The Rat King?"
Annan feigned a blank look.
