"Good morning, Archbishop."
A Holy Knight of the Order Church greeted the Archbishop standing before the church.
Annan looked at the "good student" who had sent him to the dungeon not long ago. "Lovely weather today... I like the rain."
"Priest Sean said there would be heavy rain tonight, too."
"Go about your business. And have someone prepare a Carriage for me."
With that, Annan returned to his room.
Yesterday—or rather, on the first version of today—Annan hadn't had time to examine the Dragonhide gloves. He picked them up. They felt like silk.
Annan didn't know the gloves' exact properties. He knew Appraisal, but he couldn't use it.
The only non-Summoning spells Annan could think of were Cantrip and Mage Hand.
He tried casting Mage Hand. After several failures, he summoned an invisible hand he could control.
He had it take a book from the shelf, then kept casting. As he grew more practiced, more and more Mage Hands appeared around the room. They picked up books and chairs and even lifted the desk.
He was wondering whether the Mage Hands could lift him when Rainer opened the door.
"Teacher, the Carriage is ready..."
The young Holy Knight froze in the doorway.
A dozen or so Mage Hands vanished. Everything they had been holding crashed to the floor, leaving the office in chaos.
"Just a little spell... Don't worry about it," Annan explained.
Lai still hadn't come in. Annan didn't know whether this was part of the test; he had forgotten to ask yesterday.
"I'm going out. Leave any official business on my desk. I'll deal with it when I return from the Palace tonight."
"Of course, Teacher."
Lai stepped over the books on the floor, placed the documents on the desk, then looked down at the scattered books.
