Annan finally saw the Dark Elves for himself.
Compared to Della, they had more pronounced elven features and fuller, more alluring figures. Their grayish skin and purple eyes gave them a succubus-like air.
"I'm Annan, lord of Free City."
The beautiful elf standing before him looked down at Annan. "I'm Sasha, a bishop of the Spider Queen's Church."
"Why were you giving off such malice?"
Those bewitching purple eyes held no sway over Annan. Ignoring her beauty, he asked the question directly.
"It was a misunderstanding. We thought you were enemies."
Annan made no comment. The Dark Elves might be elves, but they behaved more like demons. Still, no one had been hurt, so for now he could take them at their word.
"We came for..." Bishop Sasha worried that Annan might not know where the Matron was. If so, she would be giving away their purpose. "To find one of our people."
"You're looking for Della?" Annan realized.
Della? Was that the new name the Matron had chosen for herself...?
Bishop Sasha did not dare think too deeply about it, though the occasional thought that defiled her faith sent a thrill of blasphemous pleasure through her.
"That's right. Del... Could we see... see her?"
Her cautious manner made Annan wonder if Della held some special position.
Perhaps she did. The Gods had been out of contact for three years, yet Della could still use Divine Arts that even priests could no longer perform.
But he remembered how unmoved Della had been when she heard Dark Elves had come to the city, and how she had simply gone to the Prison. He hesitated. "I'm not sure Della wants to see you..."
Annan turned to Luoxi, who stood nearby, and asked him to fetch Della from the Prison.
