Annan resisted the urge to hide behind the Blackwatch Legion.
If the Empire knew about the Rat Tide, it must believe the Allied Forces could handle it.
Annan looked at Femi and left the choice to the Hellfire Legion. "We have two options: prepare the Defense Line, meet the Ratfolk, and earn military honors. We might even give Blackwatch a run for its money, but it'll be dangerous. Or we can retreat to the Great Wall and wait for an opening. No danger, but no honors either."
Femi straightened his back. "Lord Annan, my father, mother, younger brother, and younger sister all died at the hands of Ratfolk. That taught me one thing..."

Femi's decision did not surprise Annan. He raised his head and looked around. If they wanted to make the most of this...
"Blom, leave three White Dragons here. Take the other ten and spread out to notify the allied forces. Tell them to join us. Gar, tell the Goblins trailing after you to find us a defensible, sturdy position, and fast. Elder, take Painting Person north again and estimate how long the Ratfolk will take to reach the Grasslands."
Once Annan had quickly assigned the tasks, everyone sprang into action, hurrying to prepare for the coming battle.
Ymir, the Elven Mage who led the Elves, found Annan and asked to go north to harass the Rat Tide.
Annan turned down her proposal. There were too many Ratfolk, and she would not be able to bring back their Rat Ears as proof. Worse, if they mistook her for the main force and came after her, it would cause even more trouble.
Before Painting Person returned, the Goblins found several places suitable for a Defense Line.
