"Chief, what are your plans for the next step?" Shen Bing asked.
The Chief smiled. "As Old Zhou just said, in today's society, national borders have become obstacles to human progress, whether in communications or transportation. Or rather, the entire administrative framework built around national borders has problems. So we discussed this among a small group and unanimously agreed that the current world order no longer suits the situation. We therefore intend to advocate establishing an Earth Federation worldwide."
"An Earth Federation? You mean turning everything into one country? If that really succeeds, it would certainly be a good thing." Shen Bing looked quite taken with the idea.
Just think: since Huaxia was the one proposing it, who would hold the real influence in this Earth Federation? Even an idiot could figure that out.
The Chief gave an awkward smile. "Well... you've misunderstood."
"Huh? What do you mean, then?" Shen Bing asked.
The Chief said, "At present, merging the whole world into one country would still be very difficult. Leaving aside how fiercely other countries would resist, even the citizens of each country would find it hard to accept. At the very least, without some profoundly shocking event to drive it forward, people would struggle to embrace the idea."
The Chief's repeated emphasis on the difficulty left Shen Bing hesitant.
Had they never considered forcing a merger? Who could resist?
But that thought only flashed through Shen Bing's mind before he dismissed it entirely.
Forcing a merger would be easy enough, but if most people harbored resentment and resisted those in power, what would be the point?
Besides, Huaxia was currently the strongest and richest country in the world, and its lead in strength was enormous. Forcibly absorbing less economically developed countries would only lower the average standard of living
