On September 23, the Illusion Immortal Glass Factory officially began production.
There were no flowers, no ribbon-cutting, and no officials in attendance. Shen Bing, Dong Qiang, and the other workers simply set off a long string of firecrackers, and that marked the start of production.
Shen Bing supervised the first morning himself, guiding the workers through the production process.
After the ore was crushed, it went into a Crucible Kiln, where firing triggered a series of complex chemical reactions. They added several metal additives along the way.
Timing and quantities had to be controlled with such precision that Dong Qiang and Gangzi almost thought Shen Bing was making things difficult for them on purpose.
But when the first finished sheet of Glass came out, Dong Qiang and Gangzi stared wide-eyed. Neither had ever seen Glass like it.
It was eight millimeters thick and stronger than nineteen-millimeter tempered Glass, yet weighed no more than ordinary eight-millimeter Glass.
It defied everything they knew about the Glass industry.
Dong Qiang and the others would not have been surprised if this Glass had come from some Gao-level laboratory. But for Glass like this to emerge from a tiny workshop? That was a miracle.
Just when they expected Shen Bing to be overjoyed with the result, he calmly picked up the entire sheet of Glass and fed it into the Glass Screen-Printing Machine.
Dozens of minutes later, they saw something even more astonishing.
The sheet had looked no different from ordinary Glass, but it came out of the Glass Screen-Printing Machine completely transformed.
"Is that a display screen?" Gangzi's lips twitched. He had never seen such beautiful Glass.
What the hell? That Glass Screen-Printing Machine was a cheap model that had cost only a few tens of thousands! Boss Wu had bought it because raw Glass sheets were hard to sell, hoping to make decorative Glass products for doors and windows instead.
But they would have bet anything that machine could not produce something this exquisite.
Apart from being motionless, the image put anything on an LCD screen to shame.
And, absurdly enough, it had a 3D effect visible to the naked eye.
"Dong Qiang, take this glass into the duty room. It has an Air Conditioner. Test how the glass changes at different temperatures," Shen Bing instructed, then left the factory.
It was nearly evening, after all, and getting a taxi out here at night would be difficult.
"Come on, get moving. This thing's precious, so be careful," Dong Qiang called. Together, they carried the sole finished sheet of Miracle Glass into the duty room.
An hour passed. Dong Qiang and the others looked at one another.
After repeated tests, they had a fairly good grasp of what the Glass could do.
But the more they learned, the more astonished they became.
This seemingly ordinary sheet displayed different images at different temperatures. Even the image changed depending on which side of the Glass they viewed it from.
On other printed glass, the image sat on the surface. On the sheet before them, it seemed to shine out from within the glass, with distinct layers and a striking 3D effect.
"Qiangzi, why do I feel like marble and jade are worthless next to this stuff?" Gangzi knew the Glass industry well, but he had never heard of Glass like this.
Dong Qiang turned the sheet over and over, trying to make sense of it. In the end, he was still utterly baffled.
"Brother Qiang, Brother Gang, you two know the technical side of things. How on earth does this work?" asked a young man in his mid-twenties, looking at them eagerly.
Dong Qiang and Gangzi exchanged a helpless glance.
We know the technical side? Sure, for ordinary Glass. But this stuff? We don't know a damn thing...
The equipment was the same. They had watched the ingredients being mixed and could now mix them themselves. They had even handled the entire process. Yet somehow, the Glass had turned out like this.
"All right, enough talk. Get the materials into the furnace so we can produce more tomorrow. With this Glass, the factory's bound to do well. Let's all put in the effort. We'll be the veterans here someday," Dong Qiang said, excitement in his voice.
As the closest thing the group had to a foreman, Dong Qiang felt he ought to say something to lift their spirits.
When Shen Bing got home, he found a reputable headhunting firm online. He needed to hire a professional manager.
His brain might have developed beyond human limits, letting him excel at anything he turned his hand to, but he was still only one person. He could not do everything at once.
After sending over the job requirements, Shen Bing left the matter alone.
Given the current size of his company... no, factory... no, workshop, hiring a top-tier professional manager was all but impossible.
As for starting a company and immediately recruiting a once-in-a-century business genius, that was pure nonsense.
Had people been reading too many novels?
Next, Shen Bing began making Basic Spiritual Wisdom Potions. He had done it once before, so he knew the process well.
In less than an hour, he had five bottles of pale blue liquid. Tomorrow, he would give it to the two black-backed dogs at the factory, and they would be perfectly capable of serving as guards.
The extra bottles would be kept in reserve. He would probably need them within a few days.
Just as Shen Bing finished and was about to order takeout for dinner, his phone rang. It seemed he already had a use for the Basic Spiritual Wisdom Potion he had just made.
Seeing the number on the screen, Shen Bing smiled. Someone was calling to bring him money.
"Dad, what's up? I'm not short on money lately," Shen Bing said casually.
Shen's Father's voice came through the phone. "Don't play dumb with me, kid. That wonder dog from last time... no, that mutt. Can you get another one?"
Shen Bing had no intention of fooling his father. "I can get one, but the price..."
"The price is fine. Same as before. When can you deliver it?" Shen's Father sounded impatient.
Uh... why does this sound so strange? Are we buying a dog or some kind of white powder?
"The day after tomorrow. I'll... I'll get in touch with someone tomorrow," Shen Bing said.
Luckily, he had caught himself in time. If he had said he would buy a mutt at the market tomorrow and train it, his father would have charged over from their hometown to cut him down.
He had talked his father into paying a million for one mutt. Was that any way for a son to behave? Who else would his father cut down?
"Good. I'll come over the day after tomorrow." There was excitement in Shen's Father's voice.
When the call ended, Shen Bing broke into a broad smile.
How much did Dad make from Big Yellow? Five hundred thousand? A million? Whatever. As long as it stays in the family.
