"Think about what that fat guy said just now, and you'll understand," Shen Bing said.
Wei Changjia was an old hand in business, after all. As a skilled salesman, he had a keen eye for opportunity.
At Shen Bing's hint, realization struck. "I get it! That bastard said we could raise our price by twenty percent. That means our glass is important to the Nancy Building project—very important. If we can get it in front of their senior management, the deal's as good as done."
"Since you understand, I'll leave it to you." Shen Bing smiled, his opinion of his two subordinates rising.
Wei Changjia was impatient—or perhaps he was simply determined to become sales manager. Without waiting for Wang Sheng's car, he hailed a Taxi and left.
Wang Sheng drove Shen Bing back to his rented apartment.
"Boss, Chang Lu mentioned selling samples to other glass companies. If they figure out the manufacturing process, we'll be in trouble. Should we apply for a patent first?" Wang Sheng tapped his fingers on the steering wheel.
"There's no rush. Our glass won't be easy to copy. The priority now is closing our first deal. By the way, how are the production machines coming along? That's crucial. We can't sign a contract and then have no way to produce the glass."
"Zhuang Xin is handling it. She studied finance, but this isn't too complicated, and glassmaking machines aren't exactly precision instruments. Manufacturers are pulling out all the stops to make sales. We contacted a large manufacturer, and after seeing our finished product, they expressed preliminary interest in working with us. Once we secure the contract, they'll supply us with a batch of machines on deferred payment terms," Wang Sheng said confidently.
Shen Bing nodded. This was the plan Wang Sheng had mentioned: securing a deal with next to nothing up front.
They would use a glass sample to win the Nancy Building exterior-wall project, then use the contract as collateral to buy machines on credit.
It was a project worth over a hundred million, while the machines would cost twenty or thirty million at most. The manufacturer could feel reasonably secure.
More importantly, if something went wrong later, the manufacturer could take the machines back. Its losses would be limited.
In such a competitive market, a contract worth tens of millions was worth taking a little risk for.
Wang Sheng returned to the factory afterward. He was also serving as its manager.
The factory had only five workers for now, but they were responsible for Illusion Immortal Glass's current production.
Wang Sheng had another important task: drawing up the factory's management policies, from personnel rules to production safety, while also arranging to recruit new employees.
Back home, Shen Bing wondered what would happen when Little Doudou's Plague God Possession met that fat bastard Chang Lu. At the same time, he considered the company's next step.
The two million yuan he had gotten from his father a few days ago had barely warmed his hands before it was gone.
Two hundred thousand had gone toward renting land, and one million to the Construction Company. Of the remaining seven hundred thousand, he had to keep five hundred thousand in reserve, leaving only two hundred thousand available.
So I'm still broke...
Full of resentment, Shen Bing took out his phone, opened the Gate to the Immortal Realm, and searched through the quests.
Looking at one hellishly difficult quest after another, Shen Bing couldn't help sighing.
Hell? Who cares about hell? These are all quests from the Immortal Realm. Even hell answers to it...
All right, he was just venting. He still had to find a quest. This was the foundation of everything he had.
Suddenly, Shen Bing sat bolt upright in his chair, his eyes wide.
"Damn it, finally—a quest I might actually be able to do."
"Lu Ban's Troubles: Finding the gods' lives in the Immortal Realm too dull, the Jade Emperor has commissioned the craftsman god Lu Ban to design an Immortal Carriage that can travel slowly on its own, allowing passengers to tour sacred mountains and blessed lands. Lu Ban has spent days pondering the problem without finding a solution and is distressed by it. Help the craftsman god Lu Ban solve his problem to receive a reward from him."
Shen Bing knew he might not be able to complete the quest, but there was a chance, wasn't there?
Judging from the countless quests he had seen before, the Immortal Realm was completely cut off from the real world—the Mortal Realm.
That meant Earth's technological development and the Immortal Realm's must have diverged at some point. Shen Bing didn't care when, though it certainly wasn't after the steam age.
If he brought over automobile manufacturing technology, he might be able to solve Lu Ban's problem.
As for production machinery, did he really need to worry about that? What ordinary person could fathom an immortal's methods?
Shen Bing only needed to give Lu Ban a few pointers and let him work out the rest.
Besides, he now had a plan for making money. Once he had funds, he could recharge his Immortal Jade and stop worrying about running out of Teleportation Talismans.
Shen Bing would never admit that he was itching to try another quest.
Everyone had a bit of a gambler in them.
"Craftsman God Island, here we come..."
With a tap of his finger, his character arrived somewhere utterly different.
"What the hell?" Shen Bing nearly jumped out of his skin. An enormous figure, at least a hundred zhang tall, was walking toward him from several hundred meters away.
Good grief. One step closed half the distance.
It raised its other foot, then brought it straight down toward Shen Bing. The sole was bigger than a house.
I'm done for. I can't believe I'm wasting my last saved teleport like this. Shen Bing's heart sank. The Immortal Realm really was dangerous.
A fierce gust from the descending foot blew Shen Ice's character backward.
"Good thing it doesn't have stinky feet."
Shen Bing had no idea why that thought popped into his head. Even if its feet did stink, could he smell them?
The foot was about to crush him. Even though it was only an image on the Screen, its overwhelming weight made Shen Bing feel suffocated.
Suddenly, the huge foot stopped. Its gleaming, steel-like sole filled Shen Ice's view.
What's going on? Did it notice this little ant?
Then the foot drew back, and a colossal head leaned toward Shen Bing.
At that point, half a nose filled his phone Screen. Shen Ice's character was less than half a centimeter tall on it.
"Who are you? Why have you trespassed on Craftsman God Island?" A dialogue box appeared. The giant had spoken.
Shen Bing's face twitched. This thing really was a person?
"I am the Mist-Ethereal Adept. I heard the craftsman god has run into a difficult problem, so I came to see him. Perhaps I can help him find an answer."
Typing was such a pain. Shen Bing thought his ten fingers were moving fast enough, but they could never match the speed of speech.
He was genuinely afraid that if he took too long to answer, the giant would pinch him dead between two fingers.
"Divine Puppet No. 2, stand down." A voice—or rather, a dialogue box—drifted in from afar.
At last, the creature in front of him moved away from Shen Ice.
Only then did Shen Bing breathe a sigh of relief. Being near that dangerous fellow had kept him on edge. Who knew whether it might suddenly step on him?
Once the giant had gone, Shen Bing zoomed out to survey the place.
What he saw sent his heart racing again.
It was an island, about the same size as Void Island, Shen Bing's "spawn point." But enormous creatures were everywhere, making the whole island seem crowded.
The giant called Divine Puppet No. 2 was comparable to a skyscraper back on Earth, yet on this island, it was one of the small ones.
There were beasts as large as mountains and gigantic birds even bigger than an A-255 Transport Plane...
Sharp-eyed Shen Bing noticed something about them. Every one of those enormous birds and beasts was a Mechanism Beast, made by humans—no, by immortals.
Shen Bing practically drooled.
If I could get my hands on the technology for making Mechanism Beasts like these, wouldn't the whole Earth be mine to command?
