"Think about what that fat guy said just now, and you'll understand," Shen Bing said.
Wei Changjia was a seasoned businessman, after all. As a skilled salesman, he had a keen eye for opportunity.
At Shen Bing's reminder, he caught on at once. "I get it! That bastard said we could raise the price by twenty percent. That means our glass is important to the Nancy Building project—very important. If we can show it to their senior management, the deal's as good as done."
"Since you understand, I'll leave it to you." Shen Bing smiled, his opinion of his two subordinates rising.
Wei Changjia was impatient by nature—or perhaps he had his sights set firmly on the Sales Department manager position. Rather than wait for Wang Sheng's car, he hailed a Taxi and left.
Wang Sheng drove Shen Bing back to his rented apartment.
"Boss, Chang Lu suggested selling samples to other glass companies. If the manufacturing process gets leaked, we'll be in trouble. Should we apply for a patent first?" Wang Sheng tapped his fingers on the steering wheel.
"No need to rush," Shen Bing said. "Our glass won't be easy to copy. The priority is closing our first deal. By the way, how are things going with the equipment? That's crucial. We can't land the contract and then have no equipment to produce the glass."
"Zhuang Xin is handling that. She studied finance, but this isn't too complicated, and glassmaking equipment isn't exactly precision machinery. Manufacturers are pulling out all the stops to make sales. We contacted a major glassmaking equipment manufacturer, and after seeing our finished product, they expressed initial interest in working with us. Once we secure the contract, they'll supply us with a batch of equipment on deferred payment terms," Wang Sheng said confidently.
Shen Bing nodded. This was the way Wang Sheng had proposed getting the business off the ground without putting up money first.
They would use a glass sample to win the Nancy Building exterior-wall project, then use the contract as collateral to buy equipment on credit.
It was a project worth over a hundred million, while the equipment would cost twenty or thirty million at most. The manufacturer could feel secure about that.
More importantly, if something went wrong later, the manufacturer could take the equipment back, limiting its losses.
In such a competitive market, a contract worth tens of millions was worth a little risk.
Wang Sheng then returned to the factory, where he also served as plant manager.
The factory had only five workers so far, but they were responsible for all of Illusion Immortal Glass's current production.
Wang Sheng had another important task: drawing up the Illusion Immortal Glass Factory's rules, including personnel policies and production safety procedures. He also had to arrange recruitment.
Shen Bing went home. Part of his mind was occupied with what might happen when Little Doudou's Plague God Possession took effect on that fat Chang fellow. The rest was on the company's next move.
The two million yuan he had gotten from his father a few days ago had vanished before he'd had a chance to enjoy having it.
Two hundred thousand had gone to renting land and one million to the Construction Company. Of the seven hundred thousand left, he needed to keep five hundred thousand for emergencies, leaving only two hundred thousand to spend.
So I'm still broke...
Full of resentment, Shen Bing took out his phone, opened the Gate to the Immortal Realm, and searched the available tasks.
Looking at one hellishly difficult task after another, Ice couldn't help reflecting on the irony.
What the hell is Hell? All my tasks are in the Immortal Realm, and even Hell answers to it...
All right, he was just venting. He still had to find a task. This was what his future depended on.
Suddenly, Shen Bing sat bolt upright, eyes wide.
"Damn it, finally one I might actually do."
Lu Ban's Troubles: The Jade Emperor, feeling that the gods of the Immortal Realm lead overly dull lives, has commissioned Craftsman God Lu Ban to design an Immortal Carriage that can travel slowly on its own for sightseeing among the immortal mountains and blessed lands. Lu Ban has pondered the problem for days without finding a solution and remains deeply troubled. Help Craftsman God Lu Ban solve his problem to receive a reward from him.
Shen Bing knew he might not be able to complete the task, but at least he had a chance, right?
Judging from the countless tasks posted before, the Immortal Realm was completely cut off from the real world—the mortal realm.
That meant there had to be a gap between Earth's technological development and that of the Immortal Realm. Shen Bing didn't care when the split had happened, but it certainly hadn't been after the age of steam.
If he brought over the know-how for making cars, he might be able to solve Lu Ban's problem.
As for production equipment? Did he even need to worry about that? The methods of immortals were beyond ordinary people's comprehension.
All Shen Bing needed to do was give Lu Ban a few pointers and let him solve the problem himself.
He had a lead on making money now, anyway. Once he had the funds, he could top up his Immortal Jade and stop worrying about running out of Teleportation Talismans.
Shen Bing would never admit that he was itching to try another task.
Everyone had a bit of a gambler in them.
"Craftsman God Island, here I come..."
Ice moved a finger, and his character arrived somewhere with completely different scenery.
"What the hell?" Shen Bing nearly jumped out of his seat. A towering figure, at least a hundred zhang tall, was walking toward him from several hundred meters away.
One step brought it halfway to him.
It raised its other foot, and a sole bigger than a house came straight down toward Shen Bing.
I'm done for. I can't believe my last teleport was wasted like this. Shen Bing felt crushed. The Immortal Realm really was dangerous.
A fierce gust from the descending foot blew his character backward.
At least its feet don't stink.
Why had that popped into his head? Even if its feet did stink, could he smell them?
The foot was about to come down on his head. Even though it was only an image on the Screen, Shen Bing felt the weight of a mountain pressing down on him.
Suddenly, the enormous foot stopped. Its steel-like sole gleamed right before Shen Bing's eyes.
What's going on? Did it notice this little ant?
The foot withdrew, and an immense head leaned toward him.
Now all that fit on the phone Screen was half a nose. Shen Bing's character was less than half a centimeter tall on it.
"Who are you? Why have you trespassed on Craftsman God Island?" A dialogue box appeared. The giant had spoken.
Shen Bing's face twitched. So this thing really was a person?
"I am the immortal Mist-Ethereal Adept. I heard the Craftsman God has encountered a difficult problem, so I came to see him. Perhaps I can help him find an answer."
Typing was a pain. Shen Bing thought his ten fingers moved pretty fast, but they could never keep up with speech.
He was seriously afraid that if he answered too slowly, the giant would pinch him to death between two fingers.
"Divine Puppet No. 2, stand down." A voice... well, a dialogue box appeared from far away.
The creature in front of him finally moved away.
Only then did Shen Bing relax. Being near such a dangerous creature kept him on edge. Who knew if it might step on him?
Once the giant was gone, Shen Bing zoomed out to take in his surroundings.
What he saw made his heart pound all over again.
It was an island about the size of Void Island, where Shen Bing's character had first appeared. But the enormous creatures everywhere made it feel crowded.
The one called Divine Puppet No. 2 was already as tall as an earthly skyscraper, yet on this island, it was one of the smaller ones.
There were beasts as huge as mountains and giant birds larger than a Transport Plane A-255...
Sharp-eyed Shen Bing noticed something else. Every one of those giant birds and beasts was a Mechanism Beast. They had been made by people—no, by immortals.
Shen Bing practically drooled.
If I could get my hands on the technology to make these Mechanism Beasts, I'd rule Earth!
