But smoke and dust billowed over the area, so anyone heading there would need to prepare.
Even if they were ready to take risks, taking risks was not the same as throwing their lives away.
And so, many people rushed home or headed to outdoor supply stores to stock up.
They certainly had plenty of enthusiasm, but enthusiasm alone could not make everything happen.
For instance, just as those who had rushed home finished packing, and those at the outdoor stores finished paying, a rhythmic churning sounded overhead.
They looked up to see the sky packed with helicopters, all painted in camouflage...
Every one of them was the same model.
What did that mean? Even an idiot could tell. These were military helicopters, and they were undoubtedly packed with soldiers.
And those helicopters were flying straight toward the meteorite's impact site.
Their purpose was obvious. If the government did not intervene in something this big, that really would have been hard to explain.
It was easy to imagine what would come next: cordons, cordons, and more cordons. Could ordinary people like them get close? That would be all but impossible.
Still, some refused to give up and wanted to try their luck. What if a fragment of the meteorite had landed outside the cordon?
And so, those who should have gone went, and those who should not have gone went too.
The "meteorite" had crashed in an extremely remote location that hardly anyone ever visited. As a result, even the nearest people were more than ten kilometers away. More importantly, there were no roads into the area. Anyone who wanted to get there would have to rely on their own two feet.
Wearing masks or gas masks, people began feeling their way toward the heart of the impact zone...
