The dark Guest Room suddenly brightened, and Pan Long reappeared.
He had changed back into his Nine Provinces World clothes. He looked much as he had before entering the Classic of Mountains and Seas Fragment, apart from a slight change in his hairstyle.
But a faint glow shimmered around him, dimly lighting the Guest Room.
Pan Long immediately realized he was glowing.
"Huh? Are those blessings really that powerful? I'm back in the Nine Provinces World, and I'm still glowing?"
He knew where the light came from—the power of the blessings.
Just moments ago, the four heroes had used that investiture ceremony, watched by countless people, to gather the will of everyone in their world. Each had bestowed a blessing on him.
King Chris had blessed him to always hear people cheering for him, with glory ever at his side.
President Lawrence had blessed him with inspiration in his mind and wisdom in his heart, so that his studies would bear fruit.
Pontiff Anna had blessed him with unstoppable courage in battle against evil, so that every Mountain Spirit and River Demon would quake at the mere mention of him.
Chieftain Ellu had blessed him with eyes as keen as a divine eagle's, leaving wicked fiends nowhere to hide.
He had not yet had time to study the effects of the four blessings, but at least one result was plain to see.
He glowed now.
"What am I supposed to say? Should I go full Japanese anime with 'Ta-da! I glow!' Or borrow a line from an American show: 'What's so strange about glowing? In a hundred years, everyone around you will glow, and they'll have halos over their heads, too!'..."
