At the order, Zion's operatives immediately fell back at full speed.
They had barely retreated when the Slavic army's tanks opened fire.
Inside the tanks, the Psychic-Infected ignored the pain wracking their bodies and squeezed out as much Psionic Power as they could, feeding it into the machines.
The complex machinery transformed their Psionic Power into surging flames. At the gunners' command, the flames roared out like fiery serpents and struck the makeshift barricade of vehicles Zion had erected.
The sturdy metal could withstand the flames for a while, but the less durable components inside the vehicles could not.
Zion's operatives had prepared for this and removed the Psionic Shards that powered the vehicles. But plenty of Psionic Shards remained in the equipment of the dead Slavic Warrior soldiers.
Under the intense heat, those Psionic Shards began to react violently. Their physical casings rapidly lost their ability to contain them, and a tremendous surge of Psionic Power erupted in an instant.
That meant explosions.
Boom after boom rang out. Vehicles were blasted askew, and within seconds, the barricade had become a burning ruin.
The explosions brought fierce shock waves with them.
Several operatives who had been the last to withdraw took the shock waves head-on and staggered to the ground. Most of the others had dropped flat after being warned and avoided the worst of the blast.
Then they got up, helped their wounded comrades to their feet, and retreated as quickly as they could.
The Slavic tanks kept firing.
They had brought nearly a hundred tanks this time. These powerful Psionic Machines possessed unparalleled destructive force, but they were troublesome to build, and their "ammunition" was hard to find.
Psychic-Infected who could serve as "ammunition" were not so easily found.
Most Psychic-Infected were unwilling to serve the Slavic Empire
