Pan Long had not gone far when a jumble of footsteps rang out clearly.
Judging by the sound, there were at least twenty or thirty people.

The voice sounded young. Though Pan Long had yet to see its owner, he could hear the overbearing arrogance in every word.

This voice was older, belonging to someone in his forties or fifties. From the way the others chimed in, he was probably a steward or some kind of scheming adviser.
Expressionless, Pan Long walked toward the voices. He passed through an archway and saw a large crowd escorting a pale-faced young man with a short beard.
Every one of them carried a blade, sword, or club and looked as fierce as demons. The men who had fled earlier were among them. Compared with how they had trembled before, they now looked smug, their confidence plain to see.
They froze when Pan Long appeared, then shouted, "Young master, that's him!"
A vicious glint flashed in the young man's eyes. He waved a hand. "All of you, get him!"
