As Pan Long slowly approached the stone bridge, "Thor the Thunder God" stood on it as still as a mountain. The dried corpses, on the other hand, began to stir.
Their range of perception seemed far greater than that of the much stronger "Thor the Thunder God."
Pan Long was a little surprised. As he understood it, even if the strong weren't superior in every way, their perception should at least be no worse than the weak's. Otherwise, wouldn't they be easy to ambush?
But in this world, at least, that did not seem to be the case.
As fifty or sixty dried corpses slowly crawled toward him, he felt no fear. After a moment's thought, he drew Grudge Cutter and sent a jolt of Internal Power through his arm, rupturing the skin and flesh. A trickle of blood, faintly tinged green and yellow, seeped out, and he carefully smeared it on the blade.
In an instant, Grudge Cutter blazed with light. The character for "grudge" on its blade turned bright red, yet a faint greenish-yellow glow wound around it. Far from looking sinister, it gave off a strange sense of sanctity.
The dried corpses drew closer. A moment later, they sprang forward one after another, like arrows loosed from bowstrings, like a black, turbid torrent beneath the moonlight, rushing straight at Pan Long.
Pan Long gave a disdainful sneer and swept Grudge Cutter forward. Its light flowed like mercury spilling across the ground as he charged into the black torrent of corpses.
Snaps and cracks ran together without pause. A dozen seconds later, he lowered his blade and stood still. Shattered corpses lay all around him, swiftly weathering into ash.
The fully armored "Thor the Thunder God" still had not moved.
