By the time Pan Long had emptied almost the entire large jar, a shrill howl rose from beneath the garden. Judging by the voice, it was unmistakably a young woman.
"Coming out, are you?" Pan Long flung the last of the salt water into the garden, cleared the clutter around him, and drew his blade.
A moment later, a tangled mass of countless vines slowly rose from the ground. Its shape was just barely recognizable as a woman.
It clearly had no sight. It could not even see Pan Long standing right beside it. But it could still move, inching slowly to one side.
Meanwhile, the trees throughout the garden withered at astonishing speed. Their leaves turned yellow in the blink of an eye and fell across the ground. Their branches and trunks dried and cracked, as though they had been dead for years.
In contrast, countless branches and leaves sprouted from the mass of vines. They intertwined and joined together, gradually taking on a more and more human shape.
After a minute or two, the mass had become a greenish woman. Her face was surprisingly attractive, but she was enormous, nearly as tall as a three-story building.
If she wanted to enter a house, bending over would not be enough. She would probably have to crawl.
And even if she got inside, she would not be able to move freely. Raising her head would punch through the ceiling.
