The giant crab emerged from the waves but did not hurry ashore. Standing atop the surf, it snarled, "You there, mortal! You dare harm one of my kind? Do you not know how to spell 'death'?"

The gall of this creature, lying through its teeth, almost made Pan Long laugh. It had clearly killed that Shrimp Soldier itself. What did that have to do with him?

He gave a cold laugh, but instead of answering, he said, "Where's the shrimp that ran away? Hurry up and call it out too."

With a burst of laughter, the Shrimp Soldier that had fled in abject terror rose slowly from a wave. Pointing its steel fork at him, it cursed, "Mortal, your granddaddy's right here!"

"Good. You came out." Pan Long nodded. "One crab with one shrimp just feels odd. Two shrimp are much better. Boil them, set one on each side of the table—what a pretty sight."

The shrimp and crab flew into a towering rage. The giant crab bellowed and waved its massive claws, sending countless black bristles flying like a rain of arrows to engulf Pan Long.

Pan Long shook his head, and a shield suddenly appeared in his hand.

The storage space in his wrist guard was not large, but it was enough to hold all kinds of weapons. Besides blades, swords, spears, and halberds, he even had several shields.

This was a heavy shield of the kind usually used by soldiers. Standing upright, it was taller than an ordinary person. It was called a tower shield.

On a battlefield, once a shield like this was raised, neither arrows nor javelins could cross that line of defense and hurt the person behind it—unless a cavalryman charged in with his lance, horse and rider together.

This time was no exception.
