Watching Zeng Xiaoqiang fly away on the wind, Zeng Yingqi's face darkened with fury. His eyes had nearly gone red.
That bastard from a collateral branch had fled at the most critical moment?!
How dare he!
And he dared say the Zeng Family had nothing worth staying for? He thought the power and status their ancestors had fought to build were worthless?

"What an ungrateful wretch!" he spat. "I should have beaten him to death back then!"
Pan Long saw that Zeng Yingqi was on the verge of losing control and burst out laughing.
"When a tree falls, the monkeys scatter. Isn't that a good thing?" he said with a sneer. "Besides, he doesn't covet your power or status. You can take them into your coffin with you. Isn't that what you want?"
Zeng Yingqi roared, leaped forward, and swung his cane viciously at Pan Long.
It was the first time since the fight began that he had attacked of his own accord.
Pan Long caught the cane, of course, but the shockwave drove the ground down again. Within a yard or so of him, it sank by more than two feet.
Looking up, he saw that a sizable slope now ringed him. Someone unsteady on their feet might have needed most of an hour to climb it and get out of the enormous pit.

The estate, famous throughout You Province, had been reduced to a few insignificant remnants of broken walls.
Centered on the estate gates, a crater more than a hundred yards across scarred the earth. Its floor descended in tiers, each one marking a clash between Pan Long and Zeng Yingqi.
For more than another hundred yards beyond the crater, scarcely
