After the rally, the army set out for Mother Mountain.
Its ranks were vast. Alongside the warriors who had already been fighting in Andralina marched great numbers of Eladrin from the Beastlands.
Through the long years, the Eladrin had never forgotten their hatred for Cang Ye, who had plotted against them. They had trained their armies, waiting to avenge that wrong.
But Andralina was part of the Abyss, and the consciousness of the Abyss—something like its supreme god—had prevented the Eladrin from invading in force. Helpless, they could only wait.
Now Andralina had been almost completely purified. Mother Mountain was the only nail still fastening it to the Abyss. Most of what had barred the Eladrin from entering was gone; what remained could weaken them, but could no longer stop or corrupt them.
And so the army the Eladrin had prepared for so long marched out.
How large was that army?
Standing on a small hill before taking flight, Pan Long looked out and could not see its end.
The three celestial races of Goodness were the counterparts of the two evil races. If the Eladrin came out in full force, they could clash head-on with the entire Abyssal Plane or all of the Nine Hells, at least for a time. If the consciousness of the Abyss were not standing in their way, that rabble of Abyssal Demons might not even be enough for them to kill!
The Eladrin of chaotic Goodness were themselves a disorderly lot, with little Order or discipline. But at least they had courage and justice in their hearts, and dared to fight and sacrifice themselves.
By comparison, individual Demons might even be a little stronger than Eladrin, but they could only fight when the wind was at their backs. The moment a battle turned bitter
