The Immortal Apprehension Office had been extraordinarily busy lately. Lu Xiaofeng sat with a face like iron. Before him stood a crystal cover, shaped rather like the silver dome over a Western Thanksgiving turkey dinner. If Luo Qian had been there, he would have been astonished: beneath it lay a Sony PSP Game Console and a multifunction Swiss Army knife.
The crystal cover kept every last trace of the two mundane objects' vulgar aura from escaping, but Lu Xiaofeng's expression was frighteningly dark. The officers stood in two rows, silent as cicadas in winter, not daring to make a sound.
Lu Xiaofeng glared at the cover for a full half hour. Whatever he expected to glare out of those two objects, no one knew. "You all saw them?" No one dared answer. His voice turned icy. "A disgrace! A petty merchant has played you all in the palm of his hand. Before, he was cautious. Now he's acting in broad daylight. How dare he run so wild!"
In all his life, stubborn old Lu Xiaofeng had never suffered such "humiliation." Someone had actually been selling mundane objects in an alley outside the Immortal Apprehension Office! Two immortal officers had seized the fool who knew neither the height of heaven nor the depth of earth right there in the street.
