• Descent restrictions — No Immortal may descend to the Mortal Realm without the Immortal Emperor's Golden Jade Order. The Immortal Apprehension Office, founded to pursue unauthorized travelers, is itself forbidden to descend 9.
• Enforcement artifacts — The office uses the Kun Dragon Whisker to warn and weaken a traveler, the Heaven-Watching Net to retrieve one who refuses to return, and the Twelve Gold-Medal Command Swords as a potentially lethal last resort 10.

Cultivation and Society

• Immortal types — Mystic Immortals excel in combat and Spirit Immortals in spellcraft. Soul and Demon Immortals arise from ghostly and demon bodies; True Immortals are legendary, while Tribulation and Virtue Immortals are rarer types 11.

Relations with Other Realms

• Parallel realms — The Divine, Demon, and Buddha Realms are described as parallel to the Immortal Realm. The Mortal, Netherworld, Demon Beast, and Dark Realms form a separate group of interwoven Lower Realms 67 229.
• Saint Realm — It stands above the Immortal Realm. Saint Origin Force exceeds what even a top Immortal can normally withstand, and the Saint Court patrols for unauthorized descents 383 422.
