Full of doubts, Luo Qian entered Ningyao Mountain, skirted the bustling "commercial district," and headed straight for Cloud-Rising Peak. The man on duty happened to be a clerk from the Luo Family Medicine Shop at Clearwater Cliff. He spotted Luo Qian from afar and greeted him with a smile. After exchanging a few pleasantries, Luo Qian went to find Du Lengning.
Du Lengning's room was at the summit of Cloud-Rising Peak. To keep a close eye on his son, his father had deliberately placed him near his own quarters.
A small house of blue brick and tile, with whitewashed walls: this was Young Master Du's residence. Its furnishings and decorations were so sparse they bordered on miserly, perfectly in keeping with Old Skinflint Du's nature. Luo Qian tapped on the paper-covered lattice. "Young Master Du! Young Master Du!"
Whoosh! A gust of wind blew both doors open with a bang. Du Lengning's voice came from inside. "Old Luo, come in yourself. I'm busy." Luo Qian stood on no ceremony. He entered, closed the doors, and went farther in, where he found Du Lengning reclining on his bed, engrossed in the Jade Tablet in his hands.
Luo Qian had expected as much. He chuckled. "Young Master Du, what do you think? Is there a business in this?" Du Lengning was too absorbed to look up. He waved Luo Qian away. "Quiet. Let me finish reading first."
Luo Qian shrugged. "That won't do. Our Jewelry Shop is about to open. How can we manage without you, our chief shopkeeper, holding the fort?" Du Lengning slapped his forehead. "Oh! I forgot all about that." Luo Qian urged him, "Come on, then." Du Lengning gazed reluctantly at Piao Miao Journey in his hands and smacked his lips. "Damn it, Old Luo. Now that's what
