This failure did not trouble Tang Changsheng in the slightest. It had only been a test. Since the direct approach would not work, he would put in a little more effort and try another way!

Tang Changsheng planted a tiny seed of consciousness in the Elder Tree Spirit's mind. From there, it spread like an infection into the minds of all the Tree Spirits.
Then, in a flash, Tang Changsheng vanished from the Forest.
Moments later, a beam of light descended from the Divine Kingdom and landed in the Forest.
The disturbance just now could hardly have escaped the Purple Dusk Demons' notice.
So they had sent a Divine Attendant to investigate.
Clearly, though, they did not consider it especially serious. Otherwise, the Purple Dusk Demons would already have dispatched an army rather than a single Divine Attendant.
Sure enough, the Divine Attendant made a circuit of the Forest. Apart from finding that the entire Forest had been damaged and its aura had weakened considerably, he discovered nothing else amiss.
It was unusual, but evidently no great matter. In a world this vast, when did something not go wrong somewhere?
Having found nothing, the Divine Attendant soon returned to the Divine Kingdom.
Only then did Tang Changsheng appear on a distant hilltop, a faint, mocking smile on his face.
A great flock of Thunderbirds occupied the cliff. These formidable creatures could spit thunderbolts and fly at tremendous speed. Fiercely protective of their territory, they never allowed anything alien to enter it.
Yet Tang Changsheng walked among them openly, and every Thunderbird acted as though he were invisible.
He had planted
