Tang Changsheng noticed that the riders' leather armor and the colors and cut of their uniforms differed from those of Wu Hou State. His heart tightened. These had to be the invading troops.
He gave nothing away. "I'm a disciple of the Primordial Yang Church. May I ask which army you serve?"
The scout leader's face changed the moment he heard that. "So you're a villain from the Primordial Yang Church! Kill him!"
With a shout, he spurred his horse forward and swung his sharp saber at Tang Changsheng.
Horse and rider weighed over a thousand pounds. At such close range, their charge was terrifying.
The blade was about to sweep across Tang Changsheng's neck. He sneered and did not move. Less than a yard from him, the charging horse crashed to the ground.
