Tang Changsheng had no time to marvel at the mountain's grandeur before he spotted what looked like a battle raging at its foot. Both sides were fighting with no thought for their lives.

It was too far away for even Tang Changsheng's keen eyes to make out clearly. He started forward, intending to get a better look.

He had not gone far when he stopped dead. An army of several thousand was camped deep in the grass.

At a glance, Tang Changsheng saw the camp shrouded in red light.

Before he could see more, his vision blurred. Blood-red mist filled the sky and covered the earth. Lakes and rivers of blood flowed everywhere, and countless shrieking Ghost Monsters burst from the red light, baring their fangs and claws as they lunged at him.

Tang Changsheng shouted and tore free of the illusion. He retreated several steps before he could see that the camp was strewn with corpses and blood, inside and out.

Many of the dead appeared to be warriors from other Tribal Stockades in the Primordial Ancestor's Land, but there were far more animal carcasses. Countless creatures had been slaughtered and piled one upon another.

The heaps of corpses led all the way to a raised Altar already stained red with blood.

To Tang Changsheng's eyes, the Altar seemed to have come alive. It was devouring the slaughtered creatures' flesh and souls, along with their boundless Grievance Aura.

The Altar seemed to open onto an endless hell of blood...

If Tang Changsheng's Spirit Terrace had not been tightly linked to the Primordial Yang Divine Lamp, with no room to loosen that bond, a single glance would have plunged him into one illusion after another.
