"An escape?"
"From a Hound of Tindalos hunting me down?"
"I... isn't that a death sentence?"
Florence looked at the strange creature with its sharp teeth and claws, his heart turning cold. Hunted by something that could travel through space and time, could he really escape?
The Hound of Tindalos twisted around to face Florence. Its eyes were blurred and impossible to make out, but he could still feel the malice in its gaze.
"The game begins."
As soon as Lucifer spoke, the creature's pupils contracted. Its expression turned savage, and it lunged.
The hunt had begun.
"Teleport!"
Facing the Hound of Tindalos's attack, Florence used the teleportation chance Lucifer had given him without a moment's hesitation.
He arrived in a sparsely populated desert.
He remembered reading in a Cthulhu novel that, to materialize after traveling through space and time, a Hound of Tindalos needed an angle of 120 degrees or less at its destination. If he hid somewhere without corners, it couldn't track him that way. At least, it couldn't travel through space and time to reach him.
An endless desert met that condition.
That was why he had teleported here: to evade the Hound of Tindalos.
Heat rose from the golden sand. Beneath the blazing sun, his archbishop's robes became a burden, and he soon felt stiflingly hot.
He quickly stripped off the clothes underneath, leaving only an outer robe draped over him. Then he sat on his discarded garments atop the sand and carefully considered what to do next.
The hound hasn't caught up yet. That means the novel was right: it really does need an angle to travel through space. I hope the desert buys me some time.
He didn't expect the hound to stay away forever. That was impossible.
Hounds of Tindalos were terrifying creatures
