The lightning had nearly blown Hectos apart. He steadied himself, and his flames began to gather and contract under the influence of Divine Power. A moment later, he became a red ball the size of a basketball, bobbing up and down in the air. A face emerged from within it, weeping. "Greatest master in the world, please forgive your servant!"
You didn't say anything wrong. Everything you said was true. But some truths shouldn't be spoken aloud... Jiang Hao asked evenly, "How did you learn all that?"
The Heart of Nature Plane had not merged into the Main Plane as a single continent. The Main Plane had absorbed it, digested it, then reassembled it. As a result, the false gods of the Heart of Nature Plane were scattered far apart. How had Hectos, the Fire God, learned all this?
"The flames! The flames brought me the information I wanted," Hectos said in a rush.
The flames... Jiang Hao recalled the forest fire that had broken out when the Lord of Dawn descended. Hectos could actually glean information from flames. No wonder he had said, "I'd guess he's already fallen." A few more glances at the scene, and he would never have said that.
"Do you know where the Wild God, the God of Poisonous Snakes, and the Valley God are?"
"I do, great master."
Words poured from Hectos's mouth like machine-gun fire. "Master whose Glory shines forever upon this Plane, do you intend to bestow Grace upon them and let them bask in your Radiance?"
"If so, could you let your most loyal servant Hectos speak to them? Though every false god of the Heart of Nature Plane longs to bask
