The Golden City of Khalikan was the most prosperous city in the eastern Main Plane. It lay deep in the Forbidden Mountains, surrounded by peaks.
In ancient times, the area had been a basin occupied by the Foxfolk. They had built a vast city there to serve as their people's headquarters.
The city was named Khalikan, meaning Fox Court.
Later, humanity rose and drove the Orcs to the edges and barren regions of the continent. The Foxfolk were forced to leave Khalikan, but the humans who had driven them out could not remain active deep in the mountains for long. The city gradually fell into ruin.
That changed when the Dragon Lady Asterina descended upon Khalikan. She conquered every Magic Beast in the Forbidden Mountains and cleared a trade route connecting several surrounding countries.
Then, with the Chromatic Dragon Queen's Divine Power, she built a Portal in the Main Plane that linked to the Outer Plane. Specialty goods poured in from the Outer Plane, drawing countless merchants.
Gradually, Khalikan changed from Fox Court into the Golden City, and Asterina, the Dragon Lady who ruled it, became known throughout the Main Plane as the Golden Queen.
Bamas had transformed into a bald, heavily armored man who radiated an air of iron and blood. As he walked through Khalikan's streets, his eyes gleamed at the magnificent shops piled high with gold and gems, and at the weapons and armor made entirely of Mithril and Adamant displayed casually outside them.
Now and then, he even glimpsed rare materials such as Star Gems, Void Magic Crystals, and Extradimensional Insect Eggs—rarities in both the Main Plane and the Outer Plane.
He even saw a damaged Legendary weapon.
Surrounded by such riches, he could not keep the Greed from his eyes.
