The Six Paths of Reincarnation Reincarnation Space.
Covered in wounds, Meng Qi sprang to his feet with a carp's leap as soon as the Lord of the Six Paths of Reincarnation healed him. He was muttering something about being a hero again in eighteen seconds.
At the sight of the empty Reincarnation Plaza, Meng Qi went straight to the Lord of the Six Paths of Reincarnation to have his techniques and items appraised.
He already knew the truth behind the cold-jade Buddha statue in his hand, as well as the purpose of the Illusory Movement Art.
This was Meng Qi's third reincarnation mission, and it had been a solo one.
"The little monk came back early." A voice as sweet as an oriole's rang in Meng Qi's ear. He watched the wounds on that radiant figure heal swiftly.
For a moment, Meng Qi lost himself. Even though he knew the future, he had only seen it as a bystander. After everything he had experienced so far, he still felt a great deal of affection for Jiang Zhiwei.
But when he thought of the gentle refusal that lay ahead, he grew rather uncomfortable.
"Zhiwei, don't you know who I am? Little Meng, the Peerless Prodigy! A mission like this was mine for the taking!" Meng Qi bragged freely. It wasn't as though boasting cost money.
Damn it, it's all the Great Emperor's fault. He's always bragging in the group, and now it's rubbing off on me! a certain prodigy, Little Meng, added silently.
Jiang Zhiwei smiled, her eyes curving like crescent moons. Meng Qi stared, transfixed.
"The little monk is confident. Too bad he's a Little Baldy!"
Meng Qi's face fell. He probably wouldn't be able to leave the monastery until he returned from the Vast Sea.
"Zhiwei, did you collect manuals in the mission world?" Meng Qi pointed at the large bundle on Jiang Zhiwei's back, asking what he already knew.
"Your mind works fast, little monk. Did you do the same?" Jiang Zhiwei gave him an approving look.
Meng Qi shook his head, then shared the Illusory Movement Art and the Three Great Secret Treasures with Jiang Zhiwei.
While the two chatted, their teammates Qi Zhengyan and Zhang Yuanshan appeared in Reincarnation Plaza, along with Fu Zhenzhen, the newcomer Zhang Yuanshan had guided.
Seeing how close Zhang Yuanshan and Fu Zhenzhen were, Meng Qi teased them, grinning like a rogue.
Even knowing the future, Meng Qi remained the cheerful, easygoing Little Meng on the surface.
They then told one another how many Good Deeds they had earned, and Meng Qi shared the Illusory Movement Art with the three who had arrived later.
After giving everyone a copy, Meng Qi looked expectantly at Jiang Zhiwei before they began discussing what to redeem.
"Zhiwei, Senior Su..."
Jiang Zhiwei understood at once. She patted her smooth forehead and said, "I nearly forgot! Master agreed to the exchange. He said what you brought out was all very good, just a little different from orthodox cultivation methods."
"Here they are." With that, she handed Meng Qi a small storage pouch.
Of course martial arts deduced by a Great Emperor in Shrouding the Heavens would differ from orthodox methods, Meng Qi thought. He said to Jiang Zhiwei, "Please thank Senior Su for me."
Then he exchanged every martial art in the storage pouch with the Lord of the Six Paths of Reincarnation.
Meng Qi beamed at the sudden surge in his Good Deeds. But when he remembered he was only a middleman, his spirits sank again!
So many Good Deeds!
Looking at the peerless divine arts on the exchange pillar, Meng Qi nearly drooled. This time, he would spend freely!
He found the Eight-Nine Mysterious Art and redeemed its Foundation Establishment, Qi Accumulation, Aperture Opening, and Exterior chapters in one go.
He also redeemed the Chaotic Heaven Treasured Mirror, which Qi Zhengyan was cultivating, through its Exterior chapter.
On top of that, he redeemed the first few chapters of the Divine Magic Art, stopping only when he had spent all the Good Deeds earned from the manuals Jiang Zhiwei had brought.
"You're grinning from ear to ear, little monk. You must have redeemed quite a lot." Jiang Zhiwei looked at Meng Qi. She had a rough idea how many Good Deeds those manuals were worth.
"Little Meng shouldn't call himself 'this poor monk' anymore. There's nothing poor about you!" Zhang Yuanshan joked.
At the end of the last reincarnation, Meng Qi had produced a batch of martial arts manuals and asked Jiang Zhiwei to approach Senior Su Wuming about an exchange. He had told the others he'd stumbled upon an opportunity and needed a senior to exchange the manuals for something he could then turn into Good Deeds.
None of them pressed him about the opportunity, or why he hadn't exchanged the manuals directly for Good Deeds. Everyone had their secrets.
"Hahahaha! A modest haul, a modest haul. I only redeemed the first four chapters of the Eight-Nine Mysterious Art and the Chaotic Heaven Treasured Mirror."
Meng Qi's laugh had the air of a petty man gloating over his success. The others only thought Little Meng was an amusing monk.
They were also surprised. Even Fu Zhenzhen, a newcomer, had just seen which arts stood at the top of the peerless divine arts list.
The complete Eight-Nine Mysterious Art cost nine hundred and fifty thousand Good Deeds!
Even the complete Tathagata’s Palm cost only a million. Judged by Good Deeds alone, it was clear how powerful the Eight-Nine Mysterious Art was.
"I'm planning to switch to the Eight-Nine Mysterious Art. Like Senior Brother Qi, I want to change my core cultivation method early."
Meng Qi did not say why he had redeemed the Chaotic Heaven Treasured Mirror when he intended to switch to the Eight-Nine Mysterious Art, and no one asked.
Still, they were envious. This divine art cost far more Good Deeds than their own Sect-Founding Cultivation Arts. Who knew what mysteries it held?
After discussing their plans, they redeemed what they needed and left the Six Paths of Reincarnation space.
It was worth mentioning that, at this point in the original story, Meng Qi had yet to open an aperture. Now, however, his Eye Aperture was open.
Once Meng Qi left the Six Paths of Reincarnation space, he walked calmly out of his room. He was ready to make the sacrifice—no, ready to be caught.
Meng Qi: @Meng Chuan, Great Emperor, your package has been intercepted!
Zhang Sanfeng: Is Little Meng giving up on being the Primordial Beginning Heavenly Venerable to become a delivery courier?
Daigu Madoka: Honestly, I think delivering packages has better prospects than being the Primordial Beginning Heavenly Venerable. I'll probably spend my life delivering packages across the universes.
Daigu Madoka: Though what I'll be delivering is my power.
The Ancient One: Mr. Daigu...
Meng Qi: Urgent, urgent, urgent! Has the Great Emperor still not appeared?
Zhang Sanfeng: No.
The Ancient One: No.
Daigu Madoka: I'm not telling you.
Meng Qi's heart sank. They had changed, all of them—first Zhang Sanfeng, then Daigu. Was he the only one who was still the boy he used to be?
Meng Qi: How have you been lately, Perfected Zhang? With your hundredth birthday coming up, do you feel like the seas have turned to mulberry fields? @Meng Chuan
Zhang Sanfeng: No. I feel better and better, as though I've grown a hundred years younger. @Meng Chuan
Daigu Madoka: Amazing! So Perfected Zhang feels like he did in his mother's womb? Would that be called Xiantian? @Meng Chuan
The Ancient One: Mr. Daigu... @Meng Chuan
Zhang Sanfeng read Daigu's message and sensed something was off. Has he secretly taken lessons in verbal sparring? How else did he suddenly surpass this old Daoist?
Meng Qi: Why hasn't the Great Emperor come out yet?
Meng Qi: Great Emperor, did you forget to pay your bill?
Meng Qi: @Meng Chuan
Meng Qi: Great Emperor, your delivery courier is about to be finished! Aren't you going to do something?
Meng Chuan: A Great Dream of Ten Thousand Ages... What year is it now?
Meng Chuan: @Meng Qi, TD.
TD, my ass!
Meng Qi coughed up blood. The future Primordial Beginning... Delivery... Venerable.
Dead!
