Meng Chuan knew nothing of what the others discussed after he went offline. He was looking at the four corpses of the Dimensional Demons before him, delight glinting in his eyes.
"This should be a demon from the Fire Dimension, and this one from the Wind Dimension. The other two seem to be water and earth."
"Earth, water, wind, and fire?" Meng Chuan mused. "The Ancient One must have chosen these four dimensions deliberately."
Meng Chuan sent his divine sense into the demon from the Fire Dimension first and studied it closely.
"It fused with the power of its dimension. Its entire body is filled with the power of flame..."
"And its very form of life has changed completely."
"There's something within the flames... something like the resonance of the Dao? A law of fire? The origin of fire?"
"Hm? That resonance is gradually fading. Is it because the demon left the dimension it ruled, or even the Marvel World?"
"I need to hurry..."
Meng Chuan immersed his mind in the fiery resonance within the demon's corpse. This was the Dao of another world, something he had never encountered before. To him, it was precious indeed.
Meng Chuan had not chosen the imperial title Dao Shi on a whim.
Dao Shi: the beginning of the Great Dao.
An imperial title, in a sense, also represented Meng Chuan's Dao.
In the Heavenly Sword and Dragon-Slaying Saber World, Zhang Sanfeng looked at the weather-beaten man before him, unable to hide his joy.
"Cuishan, after so many years, I never thought you and I would see each other again."
At his master's words, Zhang Cuishan dropped to his knees with a thud. Tears streaming down his face, he kowtowed to Zhang Sanfeng.
"Master, I've been an unfilial disciple! I haven't been at your side to care for you all these years!"
As he spoke, he knocked his forehead against the floor again and again.
"You brat. If you know you've been unfilial, then stay at Wudang from now on!"
Zhang Sanfeng rapped Zhang Cuishan on the head. How had he ended up with such a foolish disciple? The boy had even wanted to kill himself. He was hopeless!
And the Five Great Sects had dared to make trouble at his hundredth-birthday banquet? Damn it, did they have a death wish?
As for Ah Er, Ah San, and the sect behind them—the ones who bore much of the blame—their Vajra Sect in the Western Regions had already been reduced to ashes.
Zhang Sanfeng had read his own fate record, so he understood exactly how the tragedy at his future birthday banquet would unfold.
Yu Daiyan would reveal the truth of how he had been crippled. Yin Susu had taken the Dragon-Slaying Saber from him, immobilized him, and had an escort agency send him home. But on the way, Ah Er and Ah San had appeared and abducted him.
To learn where the Dragon-Slaying Saber was, Ah Er and Ah San had shown Yu Daiyan no mercy, yet they had gotten nothing out of him. (In truth, Yin Susu's silver needles had left Yu Daiyan unable to speak at all.)
In a rage, Ah Er and Ah San had used the Great Strength Vajra Finger to destroy the meridians throughout Yu Daiyan's body. He had lost all his martial arts and been left paralyzed in bed, a cripple from then on.
How could Zhang Cuishan bear learning the truth about what had happened to his senior brother, his fellow disciple who was as close as a brother? On one side stood him; on the other, his beloved wife. What could he do?
Worse, his master's hundredth-birthday banquet would be ruined by the Five Great Sects because of him. That would break him.
With the Five Great Sects pressing ever harder and even some Wudang disciples pointing fingers, Zhang Cuishan would finally buckle under the pressure and choose to take his own life.
That was how the tragedy would play out at Zhang Sanfeng's birthday banquet.
Now that Zhang Sanfeng knew the root of the problem, he had a way to solve it.
The Vajra Sect had been wiped out, and he had more than enough Black Jade Intermittent Ointment!
"Master, this is my wife, Susu."
"And this little fellow is my son, Wuji!"
"Wuji, come on. Call him Grandmaster."
As he spoke, Zhang Cuishan took Zhang Wuji from Yin Susu's arms.
"Grandmaster!"
Zhang Wuji's voice rang out clear and bright, his eyes sparkling.
"Ah, what a good boy, Wuji!"
Zhang Sanfeng looked at Zhang Wuji with affection and took him into his arms.
"Master."
Watching from the side, Yin Susu tried calling him Master too. She had married Zhang Cuishan, so she would follow him wherever he went. Besides, the old man before her was the martial arts legend famed throughout Wulin.
"Mm."
Zhang Sanfeng looked at Yin Susu and nodded. He said nothing more, but he had accepted her as his daughter-in-law.
Zhang Sanfeng treated all seven of his disciples like his own children.
Watching nearby, Zhang Cuishan was overjoyed. He had reunited with his master and fellow disciples today, and his master seemed to have accepted Susu too. This called for a great cup of wine!
He immediately went around behind Zhang Sanfeng and wrapped his arms tightly around his six fellow disciples.
"Master really can foresee everything."
The same thought arose in all six men's minds.
A few days earlier, Zhang Sanfeng had summoned the six disciples and instructed them, "Cuishan will return to Wudang in a few days. Now, let me finish!"
Seeing how excited his disciples were, Zhang Sanfeng felt gratified. He did have a knack for teaching them!
"When Cuishan returns to Wudang, he'll bring his wife and child."
"His wife is Yin Susu of the Heavenly Yin Sect. When Cuishan arrives, remember not to pick at her with your words."
"But Master, she's a demon-cult witch!" one of the Wudang Six Heroes said.
"But she's Cuishan's wife now, and the mother of his child! Besides, do you think your master cares about such things?"
The six fell silent at Zhang Sanfeng's words. Yes, she was not merely their fifth brother's wife. More importantly, she was the mother of his child.
Yu Daiyan's expression was the most conflicted. On one side was the brother he held dearest; on the other, the demon-cult witch whose actions had led to him becoming a cripple.
"All right. Go and prepare yourselves. Try not to let Cuishan see how you feel."
"Yuanqiao, go on with your work. I'll take Daiyan back," Zhang Sanfeng said when he saw Song Yuanqiao about to wheel Yu Daiyan out.
"Yes, Master." Song Yuanqiao suspected nothing. After all, this was not the first time their master had taken Yu Daiyan back himself.
Once the others had disappeared, Zhang Sanfeng looked at Yu Daiyan and sighed.
"Daiyan, I know what happened back then."
Yu Daiyan trembled, his voice unsteady.
"Master, have you come to persuade me?"
Zhang Sanfeng rapped Yu Daiyan on the head. "You brat. You're all my disciples. Do you really think I'd favor one of you over another?"
Yu Daiyan could hardly meet Zhang Sanfeng's eyes. For a moment, he really had thought that...
"Daiyan, I've found a way to heal you."
Zhang Sanfeng's words reached Yu Daiyan's ears. He jerked his head up, his eyes full of disbelief and a trace of... hope.
"Master, do you mean it?" Yu Daiyan's voice shook.
"Would this old man lie to you?" Zhang Sanfeng then told Yu Daiyan how he had learned that Ah Er and Ah San were responsible, rushed to the Western Regions, destroyed the Vajra Sect, and seized the Black Jade Intermittent Ointment.
"Master..." Tears streamed down Yu Daiyan's face. He was overjoyed at the thought of standing again, yet ashamed that his master had still been rushing about for his sake at such an age.
Zhang Sanfeng then healed Yu Daiyan with the Black Jade Intermittent Ointment and channeled some of his own Life Spring divine power into Yu Daiyan's body.
As a result, Yu Daiyan recovered quickly. His inner strength returned as well, stronger than before.
Afterward, Zhang Sanfeng brought Yin Susu and Yu Daiyan together for a private talk. No one knew what they discussed, and Zhang Sanfeng did not eavesdrop.
After that conversation, Yu Daiyan was not particularly warm toward Yin Susu, but he no longer glared at her or treated her as a bitter enemy.
As for the Five Great Sects... Zhang Sanfeng decided that at his hundredth-birthday banquet, he would remind them all.
What it meant to be a Wulin legend!
