The clearest documented ascension is that of the Little Stone Emperor.

Background / History

Before the Immemorial Era, Emperors could exist throughout the Myriad Heavens and Worlds and occupied the summit of power. Most ruled through violence: they destroyed unrelated worlds, slaughtered living beings on a whim, and oppressed the Houtian Myriad Races. Their followers maintained this domination rather than fostering development 2199.

A great upheaval of Heaven and Earth later made the worlds unable to accommodate Emperors. Pangu and the other ancestors deliberately caused this change to force them into the Sole True Realm. They also prepared the Initial Holy Land as a trap for those who remained outside 2205.

The restrictions did not make a new ascension entirely impossible. The Little Stone Emperor attained the realm in a later age, but his body began cracking and bleeding because Heaven and Earth were imperfect. His achievement therefore appeared unable to endure 2154. Otherworldly Sacred Ancestors nevertheless believed that no new Emperor could arise after the change 2201.

World-Shaking Power

• Emperor-level radiance can annihilate countless beings; the arrival of the Nine Xiantian Emperors demonstrates this directly 2196.
• An Emperor can destroy a great world with a palm strike and determine the fate of countless people with a word 2204.
• During the struggle over the Sole True Realm, the Emperors’ collective killing intent severs the flow of time 2206.

Space-Time Traversal

• The Little Stone Emperor travels into the past and future to fight other Emperors 2154.
• The ancestors of the Nine Provinces join their power across past, present, and future, sealing the Portal to the Initial Holy Land 2204.

Projections and Incarnations

• The Nine Xiantian Emperors project divine power into the worlds while their true bodies remain inside the Sole True Realm 2197.
• The Otherworld’s Sacred Ancestors can also appear through incarnations 2197.
• A projection is not equivalent to a true body: the Void Emperor’s bodily appearance leaves the Nine Xiantian Emperors’ projections hopelessly outmatched 2197.

Limits and Differences in Strength

• Emperors are not equally powerful. Five pinnacle Emperors are described as vastly stronger than ordinary Emperors such as the Void Emperor and his three companions 2202.
• Remaining in the altered Myriad Heavens and Worlds requires exceptional measures. The Void Emperor strips himself down to King-level power and hides beside the Eighth Heavenly Stele to suppress and shield himself 2197.
• Emperorhood is not the ultimate ceiling. When Meng Chuan’s True Self descends into his Other Self, the Little Stone Emperor senses an existence beyond the realm 2155.

Story Role / Major Arcs

The Source Land’s Appearance

• The Sacred Relics of the Heavens reveal the Source Land, also called the Initial Holy Land. It is the primordial foundation upon which the Sole True Realm was established 2196.
• The prospect of controlling the Sole True Realm and the Myriad Heavens and Worlds draws experts toward it. Emperors have already died in earlier struggles over this prize 2196.
• The Nine Xiantian Emperors arrive through projections, followed by the Void Emperor in his true body and further Emperor-level contenders 2196 2197 2202.

Meng Chuan’s Intervention

• Several Emperors dismiss Meng Chuan because they neither recognize him nor sense an Emperor’s aura from him 2198 2201.
• Meng Chuan overturns their expectations: eighteen Emperors are bound together and dragged into the Initial Holy Land. He also throws in the bodies of the Void Emperor and four other Emperors 2203.

The Extinction Plan

• The trapped Emperors recognize that the ancestors intend to lure them into the Sole True Realm and Initial Holy Land, then kill them. Meng Chuan denies having previously met or plotted with the ancestors, but continues holding the prisoners 2204.
• The supposed reward of controlling the Sole True Realm through the Initial Holy Land is revealed as deliberately planted bait 2205.
• Pangu, Nuwa, and their allies struggle to refine the Sole True Realm against the Emperors’ resistance. Their priority is eliminating the brutal rulers before building an Ideal Country, since every additional day of their survival threatens the worlds 2206.
