History
Dorm Seven and its new leaders
Wang Sheng was a Dorm Seven leader before the arrival of Xu Yuan, Tang San, and Xiao Wu. The dorm’s work-study students were regularly beaten by noble students, and Wang Sheng suffered the worst treatment because of his leadership position 1 4 33.
When Xu Yuan arrived, Wang Sheng explained that newcomers could become the dorm’s boss by winning a fight. Xu Yuan declined, citing his support-type Martial Soul. Wang Sheng’s casual joke about the Wish-Granting Tree granting wishes led to Xu Yuan demonstrating its power 1.
Wang Sheng later reminded Xiao Wu that her leadership contest with Tang San remained unfinished. After her victory, he accepted her authority. When Tang San hesitated to help move Xu Yuan’s bed beside hers, Wang Sheng did it himself 3 4.
After Xu Yuan treated the dorm to dinner, Wang Sheng began calling him “Brother Yuan.” Learning that both Xu Yuan and Xiao Wu possessed Innate Full Soul Power strengthened his hope that they could protect Dorm Seven from bullying. He volunteered to cover their work-study duties and subsequently insisted that the dorm recognized only those two as its bosses 5 6.
Warnings about Yu Xiaogang
Wang Sheng questioned Tang San’s decision to become Yu Xiaogang’s disciple. He cited Yu’s failure to reach Level 30 despite being nearly fifty, his dependence on the dean’s hospitality, and the fact that he had never taught their classes. Tang San took the criticism personally and warned Wang Sheng not to repeat it 4.
Despite his doubts, Wang Sheng worried about Tang San’s safety rather than treating him as an enemy. Before the Soul Hunting trip, he reasoned that a Level 29 Soul Grandmaster should still be capable of handling a Hundred-Year Soul Beast. When Tang San and Yu eventually returned in a battered state, Wang Sheng publicly recalled his earlier warning 6 14.
Wish for a Hundred-Year Soul Ring
Seeing Yu Xiaogang reach Level 30 through a wish gave Wang Sheng hope of exceeding his own expected limits. He had previously regarded Level 29 as his likely ceiling—if he could even reach it—and begged Xu Yuan to reserve a future wish for him 17.
After reaching Level 10, Wang Sheng chose to wish for a suitable Hundred-Year Soul Ring. Xu Yuan and Xiao Wu warned him that neither wish-making nor Soul Hunting was safe, but he refused to settle for a Ten-Year ring. His teachers had told him that a Hundred-Year First Soul Ring would give him a chance of eventually becoming a Soul Elder 24.
The wish produced no immediate visible change. Shortly afterward, a teacher announced that Director Su was already heading to the Soul Hunting Forest and could take Wang Sheng along, eliminating the wait he had expected 24.
Wang Sheng returned with a Hundred-Year ring from a badly wounded Saber-Toothed Tiger found near the forest entrance. However, he reported that his good fortune seemed to disappear afterward: several days of dangerous bad luck followed, and Director Su’s quick reactions prevented him from returning on a stretcher 25.
Challenging the noble students
His new ring gave Wang Sheng the confidence to confront Xiao Chenyu, whose First Soul Ring was only Ten-Year. He displayed his yellow ring and defended Xu Yuan’s power against the nobles’ disbelief 25.
Wang Sheng also began challenging noble students to repay their earlier mistreatment. Liu Long consequently brought gifts to Xiao Wu and asked her to restrain him 33.
Later, Yu Xiaogang challenged Wang Sheng to fight Tang San as a demonstration of his teaching methods. Wang Sheng accepted despite knowing Tang San had beaten him at the start of the semester. With his Hundred-Year ring, he wanted to measure the gap between them; the supplied account ends before the match’s outcome 37.
Personality
Wang Sheng is protective of his fellow work-study students and practical about Dorm Seven’s position. He takes on work duties to support stronger dormmates and continues worrying about Tang San even after their disagreement over Yu Xiaogang 5 6 20.
His caution competes with his ambition. Although he advises Tang San to reconsider making a wish, he later accepts the same uncertainty himself because a stronger First Soul Ring could improve his future prospects and access to stipends 20 24.
He is blunt when criticizing authority figures but tactful in embarrassing dormitory situations. He describes Yu Xiaogang as a freeloader, yet tries to explain Xu Yuan and Xiao Wu’s movements beneath a quilt as geniuses “exchanging ideas.” On another occasion, he changes the subject to Tang San’s absence to interrupt the dorm’s teasing 4 10 11.
