Background and History

Xu Yuan enters Dorm Seven as a work-study student and declines its customary fight for leadership, explaining that his Wish-Granting Tree is suited to support rather than combat. He demonstrates that it can fulfill wishes, but his examples—including Uncle Buck’s wish to live without working—show how literally and unpredictably it does so 1 2.

Xiao Wu uses the Tree to hide her Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast aura from Titled Douluos. Her wish removes her Soul Beast Origin and transfers its essence to Xu Yuan. He tells her he can activate the Tree but cannot control or reverse its result; later, he absorbs the essence privately as his first Soul Ring 2 3 6 7.

Xu Yuan begins offering monthly Wish Slots. Yu Xiaogang buys one and successfully wishes to reach Level 30, but his Martial Soul subsequently takes on a pig-like form. Xu Yuan refuses Yu’s offer to become his disciple and collects the auction’s 200 Gold Soul Coins from the academy dean 15 16 18 20. Tang San later wishes for his venom-damaged eyes to recover. He conceals valuable abilities and takes precautions around stronger figures: he absorbs his first ring in private, hides the source of his skill from Xiao Wu, and treats Tang Hao respectfully while doubting his motives.
