First Simulation

In Gao Yang’s first simulated life, Ning Fengzhi serves as the teacher of Gao Yang’s Heaven Dou prince identity. Through him, six-year-old Gao Yang meets Ning Rongrong, establishing their childhood friendship 1.

Welcoming Gao Yang into the Sect

In the second simulation, Gao Yang arrives at the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect to train under Sword Douluo. Ning Fengzhi becomes increasingly impressed by his talent, strength, appearance, and character, quietly creating opportunities for him to spend time with Rongrong 3.

When Rongrong reaches level fifty, Ning Fengzhi entrusts her fifth Soul Ring expedition to the level-sixty-three Gao Yang. He considers Gao Yang strong enough to protect her, although Gao Yang suspects the arrangement also serves a matchmaking purpose 6.

Accepting a Son-in-Law

After Gao Yang and Rongrong become intimate, Ning Fengzhi orders Bone Douluo to beat Gao Yang. Sword Douluo intervenes, and Ning Fengzhi eventually accepts Gao Yang as his future son-in-law 12.

He nevertheless confines Rongrong to three months of seclusion and imposes three conditions on Gao Yang before allowing them to reunite. Only the hardest condition is identified: hunting a hundred-thousand-year Soul Beast. Once Gao Yang succeeds, Ning Fengzhi presides over their engagement before the assembled sect 12 13.

Sect Destruction and Imperial Politics

After Spirit Hall attacks the sect, Ning Fengzhi arrives at Shrek Academy with Sword and Bone Douluo, battered and disheveled. Although most buildings have been destroyed, Xiao Tian’s resistance preserves much of the sect’s strength and foundations. Ning Fengzhi relocates its surviving forces to Heaven Dou Imperial City 14.

Fearing a wider war, he repeatedly urges Gao Yang to take Rongrong far away and return only after becoming a Titled Douluo. The couple instead remain to help sustain the weakened sect 18.

Ning Fengzhi introduces Gao Yang to Emperor Xue Ye and Crown Prince Xue Qinghe during a wartime strategy meeting. He supports Gao Yang’s proposal to attract Soul Masters through pay, land, and respect, noting that Star Luo would likely adopt a matching policy and force Spirit Hall into an expensive competition. The court adopts the proposal as the Blood Robe Edict 19.

Capture and Rescue

Qian Renxue, disguised as Xue Qinghe, invites Ning Fengzhi to the Eastern Palace and ambushes him and Bone Douluo with three Super Douluo. His amplification and Bone Douluo’s desperate resistance keep them alive until Sword Douluo arrives, but the defenders are overwhelmed. Bone Douluo dies, Sword Douluo loses an arm, and Ning Fengzhi is captured 24 28.

Ning Fengzhi and Sword Douluo are imprisoned on Yellow Dragon Mountain, tortured, blinded, and kept alive through begonia healing. Their captivity is intended to lure Gao Yang and Rongrong into another trap 28 31 33.

Gao Yang and Rongrong rescue them despite their warnings. Before escaping, the captives persuade Gao Yang to spare Ye Lingling because her Nine Heart Begonia has helped preserve their lives 33.

Final Sacrifice and Legacy

The rescue cannot reverse the Soul Devouring Spider Emperor’s poison, which continues consuming Ning Fengzhi’s life force. When Gao Yang considers draining other people’s lives to save the group, Ning Fengzhi stops him, warning that the act would make him a Fallen Soul Master 34.

During a private farewell, Ning Fengzhi congratulates Rongrong on her marriage and accepts responsibility for failing to uncover Qian Renxue’s disguise. He entrusts the sect’s restoration to his daughter, combs her hair, and incapacitates her so she cannot prevent his sacrifice. He leaves her his ninety-thousand-year torso Soul Bone as a wedding dowry 34.

Ning Fengzhi asks Xiao Tian to consume him, recover, and protect Rongrong and Gao Yang. Xiao Tian’s later consumption of his and Sword Douluo’s bodies restores the tiger’s injuries and greatly increases its cultivation. Rongrong subsequently declares herself the sect’s new leader 34 38 39.

Qian Renxue later consolidates her rule by presenting Ning Fengzhi as responsible for Emperor Xue Ye’s murder, leaving his public reputation disgraced 40.

His protectiveness can be severe: he punishes Gao Yang, separates the young couple, and imposes dangerous conditions before approving their union. Yet he also urges them to escape the coming conflict rather than remain bound to the sect’s burdens 12 13 18.
