"Was there really no other way?"
Sea Spear Douluo slammed his fist into a nearby rock, his eyes reddening. "Could we do nothing but run? Flee the home we'd guarded for thousands of years?"
"Don't forget, this is the site of the Sea God Inheritance. If we run, what will the world think of us?"
"And if we run, what will they think of Lord Sea God? What will become of his dignity?"
"Dignity?"
Sea Goddess Douluo sighed deeply and lowered her head. "Wasn't Lord Sea God himself taught a lesson by that person from the Northern Underworld Continent? What can we, his subordinates, do?"
At that, everyone fell silent. It was true. Even their leader, Sea God Poseidon, had taken a beating. His statue had been destroyed, yet he hadn't dared utter a peep.
What could his subordinates do? Watch helplessly as the other side rolled straight over Sea God Island like a speed bump?
"So that's it. It was that person..."
Bo Saixi, gradually coming back to her senses, murmured, "No wonder he possesses such power. I'm afraid this is all his doing."
"High Priestess, who are you talking about?"
The seven Sacred Pillar Guardians immediately turned to Bo Saixi.
"It was just after I became a priestess. That day, I held the Sea God Scepter as I received Lord Sea God's appointment."
Bo Saixi began to recall. "Lord Sea God told me himself that if I ever encountered someone with a strange fish-like Martial Soul, I had to be extremely careful."
"He said the Martial Soul was called Kunpeng, an ancient mythical beast and the earliest Divine-Level Martial Soul he knew of."
"That person was extremely powerful. If he's still alive, he must have the strength of a demigod by now. Unless absolutely necessary, we must never provoke him."
"A Divine-Level Martial Soul!"
Sea Dragon Douluo cried out, "If that person has a Divine-Level Martial Soul, then that means..."
"Exactly."
Bo Saixi sighed. "It means there's a god behind him too, perhaps even one on the same level as Lord Sea God."
"Lord Sea God suspected as much. He also sensed another overwhelmingly powerful presence back then, which forced him to retreat."
"No wonder they developed so quickly. They had a god protecting them."
Sea Dragon Douluo nodded, then looked puzzled. "But Lord Sea God has already ascended to the Divine Realm. How can the other god...? Gods shouldn't be able to remain here for long."
"I don't know either."
Bo Saixi shook her head. "Lord Sea God was puzzled too. But news of the Northern Underworld Continent vanished ten thousand years ago. Only now has it appeared on this continent again."
"But this isn't the time to discuss that. We need to deal with what's before us."
Bo Saixi took a deep breath. A tear slid from the corner of her eye, but she forced herself to stay strong. "Seven Sacred Pillars, heed my command!"
Seeing her like this, all seven stiffened and bowed their heads respectfully.
"At your command!"
"From this moment on, help every resident of the island evacuate as quickly as possible. Remember, you must hurry. We don't have much time!"
"High Priestess?"
Sea Dragon Douluo jerked his head up. "But High Priestess, what about the Sacred Pillars and Sea God Hall? We can't move them!"
"No. We can't take them with us."
Bo Saixi gazed at Sea God Hall, her eyes unfathomable. "So I intend to live and die with Sea God Island."
"Yes! We'll live and die with it!"
Sea Spear Douluo stepped forward. "High Priestess, we'll stay with you. Even if we die, we'll defend Sea God Hall with our lives!"
"That's right! Sea Spear is right!"
Sea Dragon Douluo immediately joined in. "This is our home. As a Sacred Pillar Guardian, I'll live and die with it!"
"Yes!"
The other Sacred Pillar Guardians echoed them.
"Fools!"
In a rare burst of anger, Bo Saixi glared at them. "Do you think staying here will accomplish anything?"
"Tell me, how will you withstand a continent crashing into us? How many hours will those Martial Soul Avatars you're so proud of last against the Northern Underworld Empire's Soul Cannons?"
"And tell me, would your sacrifice mean anything?"
Her words left them speechless.
"Carry out my orders!"
Bo Saixi swept a cold gaze over them. Her godlike aura erupted and bore down on them. "As Sea God Island's High Priestess, it's my duty to protect this place!"
"Your task is to preserve the Core Flame. Without you, the people of Sea God Island won't survive on the mainland. Those people there will never accept them!"
"Without Titled Douluo to protect them, Sea God Island's people will never gain a foothold on the mainland!"
Bo Saixi looked from one to the next. "For Sea God Island's future, you must survive!"
"But—"
"No buts!"
Bo Saixi's voice was resolute. "Seven Sacred Pillars, heed my command! You have twenty hours to evacuate every resident of Sea God Island!"
"If you encounter a dangerous storm at sea, you must be the first to face it! Otherwise, you'll be stripped of your positions as Sacred Pillar Guardians!"
"And finally..."
Bo Saixi looked at them and suddenly smiled gently. "You must survive. You must!"
"..."
They stared at Bo Saixi, who was ready to die, tears filling their eyes. Sea Goddess Douluo had even begun to sob. All they could do was struggle to steady themselves and keep their grief from overwhelming them.
Eyes red, Sea Dragon Douluo slowly stepped forward and dropped to his knees before Bo Saixi. "Your subordinate will obey your command, High Priestess!"
"We will obey your command, High Priestess!" ×6
The other Sacred Pillar Douluo knelt as well, making their final farewells through their tears.
Afterward, the Douluo stationed there turned into streaks of light and returned to their Sacred Pillars. With their subordinates' help, they began settling Sea God Island's people aboard the great ships prepared for departure.
They had built the ships as a precaution against invasion, preparing for danger before it came.
None of them had truly believed anyone could drive Sea God Island to such desperate straits. Now, though, their foresight had paid off.
"Quickly! Move!"
Sea God Island's Soul Masters kept order, letting the elderly, the weak, women, and children board first while they stayed behind.
The seven Sacred Pillar Douluo each took charge of one area, ensuring no strength went to waste and everyone was looked after.
Inside the cabins, people gazed at Sea God Island, tears streaming down their faces.
Their families had lived on Sea God Island for generations. Never had they imagined they would have to abandon it and flee.
"Can't even the High Priestess stop the Northern Underworld Continent?"
"Stop it? How? Didn't you see its power? Sea God Island will be smashed to pieces!"
"Ah, my home. The place I've lived for decades!"
