Properties and Use
Dragon-Power Nourishment
Li Qingshan explains that dragon-type Soul Beast flesh and blood contain dragon power. He proposes feeding them to Luo Sanpao to develop the dormant power left by his incomplete Martial Soul mutation 7.
- Suitable recipient: Luo Sanpao can exist outside Yu Xiaogang’s body, think independently, and eat—traits that distinguish him from ordinary Beast Martial Souls 7.
- Purpose: Unlike white radishes, which replenish expenditure, Dragon Meat and Dragon Blood are intended to nourish Sanpao’s growth toward a dragon form 7.
- Instinctive attraction: Sanpao stops at the meat’s scent, stares at it, and drools; he later shows similar interest in Rock-Armored Earth Dragon meat 6 7 22.
Feeding Method and Limits
- Beast age and portion size must be chosen according to Sanpao’s condition. Li initially selects meat with a relatively weak dragon bloodline rather than exposing him to a much stronger beast’s flesh 7.
- Feedings are small, with each meal digested before the next. Yu Xiaogang records changes for Li to inspect 11.
- Li forbids increasing the portions simply because visible results have appeared 11.
- Dragon Meat and Dragon Blood begin the transformation but are insufficient to complete it. Li seeks Immortal Herbs for further evolution 11 14 20.
Documented Effects
The observed results come from Dragon Meat and Dragon Blood together; later changes also involve a compatible Soul Ring 11 14.
| Feeding / Preparation | Observed Result | Chapter |
|---|---|---|
| Initial small meal of dragon meat and blood | Sanpao eagerly consumes both; no immediate transformation is shown 7 9. | 7 9 |
| Repeated measured feeding over half a month | Greater energy, appetite, and endurance; reduced Soul Power expenditure while active outside Yu Xiaogang’s body 11. | 11 |
| Continued nourishment | Three pale-gold dragon scales appear near Sanpao’s shoulders and remain after recalling and resummoning him 11. | 11 |
| Nourishment followed by absorption of the Holy Light Earth Dragon’s Soul Ring | Scales enlarge, darken, and spread; Sanpao becomes heavier, with a longer body and tail and sturdier limbs 14. | 14 |
History
First Feeding Trial
Li Qingshan buys the initial meat and blood at a high price from a returning Soul Hunting team. He introduces them after Yu Xiaogang’s Whale Rubber regimen, shifting preparation from strengthening the disciple’s physique to nourishing his Martial Soul 6 7.
Yu initially fears the food might harm Sanpao because his clan recommends white radishes. After hearing Li’s explanation, he permits the feeding. In the original Douluo World, Grandmaster watches through the Sky Screen and rejects the method, arguing that restoring energy is not equivalent to changing a Martial Soul’s nature. Sanpao’s subsequent scales provide visible evidence of change 7 8 9 11.
Rock-Armored Earth Dragon Purchase
During their journey toward Heaven Dou City, Li and Yu purchase several cuts of fresh, thousand-year-old Rock-Armored Earth Dragon meat and a jar of blood in a town near the Clear Sky Sect. Li considers its modest dragon bloodline sufficient to continue nourishing Sanpao 21 22.
A Clear Sky Sect disciple attempts to seize the already-paid-for meat, triggering a confrontation. Li drives the group away and hands the purchases to Yu for storage. The disciples later falsely report that Li stole their supplies, prompting Seventh Elder Tang Lie to pursue him 22 23 24 25.
