Background / History

Tang Ya wants to avenge her parents and restore the Tang Sect. The Iron Blood Sect has taken her parents’ land, and she fears her existing cultivation will not give her the strength to reclaim it. She also wants to establish a Tang Sect branch in Shrek City 3 4 10.

In the Star Dou Great Forest, she and Bei Bei meet Lin Chen and Huo Yuhao while looking for a Soul Beast and a Soul Ring. Tang Ya and Bei Bei later persuade Huo Yuhao to join the Tang Sect by offering him a cultivation method and a special place at Shrek Academy 4 9.

Lin Chen discovers that Tang Ya’s Blue Silver Grass can devour life. He offers to turn it fully into an Evil Martial Soul and conceal its aura, allowing her to seek power without giving up her Tang Sect ambitions. She accepts, and his ritual transforms her into an Evil Soul Master 10 11.

Appearance

Tang Ya is described as beautiful, with large eyes, a slender waist, and long legs. Corrupting her Martial Soul briefly gives her features a smoky, alluring look; Lin Chen’s concealment restores her ordinary appearance 4 11.

• During her later frenzy, her eyes turn bloodred, her long black hair hangs loose, and black vapor and Blood Fiend Aura surround her 19.

Personality

Tang Ya’s determination to rebuild the Tang Sect is bound up with grief and fear that she will never become strong enough to take revenge. She initially recoils from becoming an Evil Soul Master, then chooses the transformation when Lin Chen offers a way to hide it. Her rapid gains excite her, though she is remorseful after losing control and nearly hurting him 10 12 21.

She relies increasingly on Lin Chen but remains conflicted about Bei Bei. She admits that she never intended to be with Bei Bei, despite accepting his help for the Tang Sect 11 12.

Blue Silver Grass and life devouring

Tang Ya’s Blue Silver Grass could devour life before Lin Chen corrupted it. After the ritual, it can consume life essence to strengthen her rapidly 10 11 12.

• Devouring the remains of Soul Beasts raises her from level 31 to level 35 in a few hours 12.
• The energy she absorbs poses a mental danger; Lin Chen says his Soul Candle Flame keeps its corrupting effects in check 12 20.

Blue Silver Dragon Martial Soul

After absorbing Di Tian’s dragon blood, Tang Ya says her Martial Soul has evolved into the Blue Silver Dragon Martial Soul. Its nine dragon-headed vines carry different elements 17 21.

• She can currently draw on darkness, light, fire, dark devouring, and destruction, but cannot yet use them skillfully 21.
• During a frenzy, the vines strike with enough force to destroy Madara’s already-damaged Susanoo Skeleton barrier 19.
• The transformation overwhelms her earlier protective flame; Lin Chen uses nine sparks from his Soul-Guiding Lamp to restore her clarity 20.

Relationships

• Lin Chen — corrupts and conceals her Martial Soul, helps her cultivate, and later stabilizes her mind. His flame must be renewed to keep her evil aura suppressed 11 12 20.
• Bei Bei — accompanies and supports her Tang Sect plans. Tang Ya admits she never planned to be with him and has not told him about her Martial Soul’s secret 4 10 11.
