Background / History
The Clear Sky Sect was once regarded as the number one sect under heaven. Its Clear Sky Hammer was considered the world's strongest tool martial soul, while Sect Master Tang Chen and his son were both Titled Douluo. The sect possessed seven Soul Douluo elders, commanded four affiliated families and numerous lesser clans, and overshadowed both the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan and Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect 3.
Its dominance weakened after Tang Chen disappeared. The current sect master could not intimidate rival powers as Tang Chen had, Martial Soul Hall repeatedly tested the sect, and the other Upper Three Sects ceased following its lead 17 47.
Xu Mingxi later spread intelligence that Tang Chen was trapped in Slaughter City and that Tang Hao's wife, Ah Yin, was a transformed Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast. The revelations attracted the attention of major powers and exposed the weakened sect to outside pressure 57. The Star Crown Sect's role in escalating the conflict was eventually recognized by Snake Lance Douluo 136.
Organization
- Clear Sky Hammer — The sect's defining martial soul, famed for overwhelming power against most soul masters of the same rank 47.
- Great Sumeru Hammer: Ring Burst — An ultimate secret taught to the elders by Tang Zhen during the first siege; it was used to hold back Martial Soul Hall's Titled Douluo at severe risk 60.
- Four Single Attribute Families — Affiliated clans consisting of the Breaking Clan, Defense Clan, Strength Clan, and Agility Clan. They were abandoned during the sect's retreat, though the Breaking and Defense Clans later escaped toward Heaven Dou City 60 61.
- Moon Pavilion — An affiliated force whose connection to the Clear Sky Sect was exposed through information leaked by the Star Crown Sect 117 136.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Rise and decline
- The sect's peak rested on Tang Chen's strength, its Titled Douluo members, and the allegiance of its affiliated clans 3.
- Tang Chen's disappearance halted its development and undermined its authority among the major sects 17 47.
- After refusing to attend Martial Soul Hall's reorganization of the Seven Great Sects, the Clear Sky Sect lost its title as one of the Upper Three Sects 99.
First siege and retreat
Martial Soul Hall attacked after Tang Hao crippled Pope Qian Xunji. Although the sect had expelled Tang Hao, Martial Soul Hall refused to separate his actions from the sect's responsibility 60.
Tang Zhen and the elders used Ring Burst to delay four attacking Titled Douluo, allowing Tang Xiao and the disciples to retreat. The sect abandoned its affiliated families and withdrew toward its ancestral grounds 60.
The aftermath was catastrophic: Tang Zhen and four elders died, nearly half of the sect's disciples were killed or wounded, and its affiliated clans scattered. The Agility Clan was subsequently annihilated by Xu Mingxi, while the Breaking and Defense Clans sought refuge in Heaven Dou City 61.
Continued persecution
Following Tang Hao's destruction of the Spirit Hall branch in Barak City, Azure Luan Douluo and Light Feather Douluo attacked the sect again. They killed twenty disciples as compensation, damaged its facilities, and used the assault to deepen resentment toward Tang Hao 116.
At Beast Suppression City, the sect suffered further losses when Fourth Elder Tang Ziyi died in battle alongside more than half of the disciples Tang Xiao had brought 127.
Bo Saixi's protection
Bo Saixi publicly offered protection to the Clear Sky Sect because of her connection to Tang Chen. Her intervention forced major factions, including Spirit Hall, to reassess their treatment of the sect 128.
Spirit Hall's encirclement eased for a time, while Clear Sky Sect disciples undertook the Hell Road in Slaughter City in search of Tang Chen or a route of escape 130.
Final destruction and evacuation
The Star Crown Sect impersonated Clear Sky Sect attackers to frame it for an ambush on Qian Renxue and her protectors, further provoking Spirit Hall 136.
Bibi Dong, Qian Daoliu, and other Spirit Hall elders launched a surprise assault that destroyed the mountain gate and killed the remaining elders. Bo Saixi arrived before Tang Xiao and the last survivors could be eliminated, confronting the attackers and evacuating the survivors 137.
The sect was then described across the continent as completely annihilated, though Tang Xiao and surviving members were taken to Sea God Island under Bo Saixi's protection 138 150.
