Victoria hurriedly leaped back. The razor-sharp killing intent of the blade almost made her pupils ache. She blinked rapidly and continuously dodged the twin blades coming at her.
Victoria sensed a long-forgotten agility and ruthlessness. Her opponent's attacks were nearly impenetrable. For an instant, she even recalled several past encounters with the assassin.
"Stop." Victoria had yet to strike back. "What did you mean by that just now—"
The woman in black let out a threatening hiss and lunged at Victoria again. She held a dagger roughly twenty centimeters long in each hand, with fine steel chains wound around her wrists. Those two daggers became short blades, throwing knives, and boomerangs in her hands... leaving extensive damage along the building's inner walls.
Victoria watched her opponent's attacks. This person showed no intention of fleeing or evading; instead, she maintained an aggressive stance throughout.
That intense hatred baffled Victoria—It looks like she wants to kill me?
In the instant they passed each other, Victoria suddenly seized her opponent's right wrist. "Are you Quicksilver Needles too?!"
The woman in black did not answer. The dagger moved through her hand like a magician's coin, obediently spinning with the motion of her knuckles before stabbing toward Victoria's eye again.
Victoria froze. Her opponent immediately seized the chance to break free, then sprang backward several times, opening a distance of roughly six or seven meters.
"The Chelated Being at the theater tonight—"
Before Victoria could finish, her opponent charged again.
Victoria was somewhat annoyed, and also realized her question had been ridiculous—of course. If this person was not Quicksilver Needles, could she possibly be a Chelated Being?
She took a conductor's baton from inside her coat. After entering the Habitable Zone, to avoid the ubiquitous Security Checks, she no longer carried weapons on her person.
