Chapter 1041: Restriction
After making several young women suffer a little, Hesta locked them in the basement.
Beneath every Quicksilver Needles workstation was a cell for holding Chelated Beings, and this place was no exception. It was just far more rudimentary than a real workstation, with only a few relatively sturdy metal cages. Hesta believed that once these reservists fully recovered, escaping their cages would only be a matter of time.
She dragged the cages, people and all, to different spots in the basement. One of them kept cursing, while the one whose throat had been sealed was very quiet. Hesta checked her injuries. She struggled to breathe throughout the examination; the iron nail seemed to have grazed her windpipe.
"She's badly hurt." Hesta rose to her feet and looked at the others. "Does your Deep Anchor have a hospital like the ones at the bases?"
"You'll pay for this! You'll—"
"She's dying." Hesta cut the young woman off directly.
Confusion appeared on several faces. The small one who had been crying gripped the bars of her cage with both hands, begging Hesta to save her.
"She needs medical attention immediately," Hesta said. "But honestly, why should I save you? Especially when you came to take my life tonight?"
"What do you want before you'll save her—"
"What are you talking about?" another person said. "Do you really think she'll save anyone? She said it herself—"
"First, tell me what you did tonight," Hesta raised her voice. "Where is Victoria?"
"She was taken away by our companions," said the adult Quicksilver Needle who had remained silent until now. "But she should be safe. Several people in our group like her very much and want to invite her to join us."
