Leave Notice and Giveaway Discussion!
Hello, everyone! This is a leave notice for a three-week break. With renovations and moving coming up, this might be the most complicated move of my life so far. Fist clench.
The books for this giveaway are "The Age of Artificial Intelligence and Humanity's Future" and "Events" (Erno's).
Giveaway method—
So, this is what we need to discuss next.
I wonder if anyone noticed that I still owed you the results of my previous two giveaways... The labor cost was too high: I had to manually enter everyone's names, then have Teacher GPT pick one from among them. But real life had been far too busy these past few months, and I never had the energy to do it, so it got dragged out until now...
How could I hold a perfect giveaway?
By "perfect," I mean: fair to participating readers, without requiring me to do a huge amount of repetitive work.
First, some friends suggested simply drawing a comment number. For example, if there were 150 comments, I could just draw a number from 1 to 150.
But the downside was that among those 150 comments, there would be chatty comments and recommendation comments, which objectively increased those commenters' chances of winning. That was a little unfair to readers who only commented once to enter the giveaway. But those chats and recommendations were precious too—the atmosphere was usually warm and friendly, and I liked seeing long threads in the leave notice section... So I'd probably still need to manually sort through the data and write down everyone's names.
The second option was moving the giveaway to Weibo and drawing from the comments there. But heavens, I used to work in the internet industry. I knew that making people switch apps would deter a lot
