"...What kind of question is that?" Lu Qi Zhen strained to lift her head, trying to see Zoe's face. "I already explained it to you. I just wanted to talk things through with him—"
"If you only wanted to talk things through, why not wait until tomorrow, when we're back at the villa?"
Zoe stepped on the protrusions in the wall and carried Lu Qi Zhen straight up to the theater's second floor. It looked thrillingly dangerous, but Zoe moved as though she were walking on level ground.
"The villa is two or three hours from downtown by car, and guards restrict who can enter and leave. It would definitely be harder for your boyfriend to track you down there than it would be tonight!"
Lu Qi Zhen was momentarily speechless—yeah!
"And you'd already given me your phone in the beginning," Zoe continued. "Yet you insisted on taking it back. Whether you wanted to call him to break up or clear up something particular with him—why did you absolutely have to contact him tonight? Are you sure some part of you wasn't trying to draw him here? After all, we're all downtown tonight. It's especially convenient for him to come over!"
