Late at night, Tulan climbed onto the roof of the palace. She looked around, and then a faint rustling came from the shadows beside the chimney. Ligo's voice followed. "Why did you come up here?"
"I came to see you." Tulan walked along the ridge of the roof. It was not difficult for her, but she deliberately staggered as she walked. "You disappear every day—"

"You don't need to take what happened that day so much to heart," Tulan said, leaning closer to Ligo. "Hesta has been through countless battles. I believe the reason she rushed into that fire wasn't because she wanted to risk her life to save something... She must have quickly assessed the situation and decided the risk was acceptable before she—"
