Chapter 1192: Danger
The two arrived at a preparation room. Following the operating procedures posted on the wall, they removed all their clothes, changed into dark green surgical scrubs, and carefully tucked their hair beneath surgical caps.
Victoria then led Hesta through a dark blue corridor. As they walked through it, ultraviolet light cast their faces blue.
Continuing onward, they entered a negative-pressure area. This was where the Class B biological laboratories were located, built similarly to the negative-pressure wards beneath the Reserve Base. Hesta once again saw the "three crescent moons" symbol that signified a biohazard. Victoria pushed open another door and motioned for Hesta to enter.
"Come on," she said softly. "You should have received training for entering high-risk biological laboratories, but for safety's sake, I'll still guide you through every step from here... First, we change into positive-pressure suits."
Under Victoria's guidance, Hesta began. She opened a wall cabinet and took out a silver-gray one-piece suit—a positive-pressure protective suit. Since the air pressure inside the suit was higher than outside, it was practically like wearing a close-fitting negative-pressure corridor; no pathogens from outside could flow back in.
Hesta had indeed received relevant training several years ago, but her work had always been far removed from mechanism research, so she had long forgotten these details. She pulled the cumbersome one-piece suit over herself, zipped it up, and connected the air hose.
Victoria carefully inspected her inner gloves. Once she confirmed they were undamaged, she twisted them tight against the cuffs. With a click, the hood filled with the whooshing sound of one-way airflow. Every sound from outside vanished. Hesta could see Victoria's lips moving, but apart from the wind, she could not hear a thing.
Victoria pointed to her own ear, signaling Hesta to turn on her headset.
