In the middle of the night, Officer Silei suddenly heard someone urgently calling her name. She realized she probably ought to wake up, but between sleeping and waking, so many flashing images made her reluctant. She did not want to leave a dream destined to vanish so quickly.
Hospital corridors. Every hospital was much the same. She kept pushing doors open, yet the beds in every ward were empty, white covers and sheets spread out neatly.
Officer Silei vaguely felt she was looking for someone very important, and yet she truly could not remember that person's face.
She kept moving forward through the haze. At some point, the gray-white dirt and stone beneath her feet became a red carpet, and the pale yellow ward doors turned into heavy, solid wooden ones. Each door now had a transparent round glass window set into it.
The ground began to sway, as if the entire building had fallen into someone's gentle cradle. A strange dizziness washed over her. Officer Silei was still pushing doors open, but the ward beds had become cramped cabins; there were no passengers in the connected upper and lower bunks. Officer Silei was still searching.
"Officer Silei!"
A voice came from far away. Officer Silei abruptly looked back and saw a young man standing at the end of the corridor. He was thin and frail, so slight it seemed a gust of wind could carry him away—that was Gustav from the ship.
Officer Silei's eyes widened in an instant. At that moment, she finally remembered who she had been looking for, but the scene before her scattered and broke apart like sand art...
"Officer Silei! Sorry to bother you this late, but there's a problem now, and you're the only one who can handle it!"
