At another window of the temporary palace, Simoya watched from afar as the woman sobbed at the entrance. Before long, Xia Yixue appeared in her field of view and handed the woman a bottle of water, but the bottle was immediately knocked from her hand and rolled off into the grass nearby.
"...Jane still has to do something," Simoya said, watching the scene. "We're at the temporary palace now, out in the suburbs. Once we move to the Quicksilver Needles base, are we just going to let her cry like this downtown too? Reporters will swarm her in no time."
Simoya turned back and looked at Officer Silei behind her.
"Did you ask her why she insisted on bringing that girl called Grass Sprout?"
Silei shook her head.
"Is snatching someone else's daughter something to be proud of?" Simoya frowned. "Why does this person always go looking for trouble? Didn't she already get rid of Albareda?"
Silei lifted her eyes. "...Jane told you she did it?"
"Does she need to?" Simoya glanced at Silei. "Believe me, if I went to ask her right now, she'd admit it outright."
Silei slowly drew in a breath, then let it out in something like a sigh.
Simoya remained by the window. Suddenly her tone changed, and her gaze shifted from Lucia to another woman getting off a motorcycle. "Officer Klar is here again—huh, she isn't coming in. She's standing there—looks like she's calling someone."
Silei's phone rang at once, and Simoya turned back again.
"...Hello." Silei answered the phone.
"Come down," Klar said, her tone very stiff. "I'm at the entrance to the temporary palace. I have something to ask you."
"All right." Silei stood up, her gaze accidentally crossing Simoya's—Simoya was looking at her with curiosity.
