"Charming?" Ding Yuqing raised her brows and glared at Hesta, her eyes blazing with anger. "...The next time you want to ask me out to meet a friend, just see if I agree!"

"Ah... Yuqing!"

The two of them jogged down the street one after the other. No matter how Hesta apologized, Ding Yuqing only kept her head down and hurried forward. To be fair, the bit of anger she had felt toward Hesta earlier had long since faded, but Ding Yuqing still said nothing.

She replayed everything that had happened that evening. Xiang Hanshan's mean face kept intruding into her thoughts, and whenever it did, Ding Yuqing stubbornly clenched her fist and quickly turned her attention elsewhere.

She remembered seeing Hesta and Lin Jiao standing beneath a streetlamp from afar earlier that evening. They had stood half-turned toward each other, chatting idly. Both were so upright in posture, with an air of gallantry in their expressions.

At the time, she had stopped walking without realizing it and watched them briefly.

That sort of bearing... really was somewhat charming.

On Saturday, Lin Jiao and Hesta picked up Eleven and Kiki from the children's center together.

This time, after getting Hesta's permission, Eleven happily climbed onto Hesta's shoulders. Kiki was still very reserved, silently following alongside them the entire way. Only when they crossed the street would she take Lin Jiao's hand.

"What are we going to see today?" Eleven hugged Hesta's head. "I want to see something with fight scenes!"

"We're not seeing a movie," Lin Jiao said. "We're seeing a play."

"What's a play?"

"It's where real people perform onstage, and the audience sits below and watches."

"Oh, so it's like an opera troupe performing?"

"More or less." Lin Jiao looked at Hesta and switched to Common Tongue.
